Another Scammer on the loose

There is a scammer on the loose that actually has some really nice items and can show credits in kiosk. The item I lost will not be missed and I am ok with it. My own stupidity for trusting lol Oh well :confused3 But upon writing a letter to the black hole I thought I would share with others ( All names have been removed but feel free to ask in messages Also the photo sent to contact did not have an edit to the names as u will see )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Please read I know I wont get my item back (would be nice but not expected) but clearly something needs to be done to this kid and staff need to take a stand on players who steal and stop letting them get away with it.
Item stolen : Turkey Leg pin
Date : 8/27 Monday
Time : 12:18 EST
Person who stole : ( name removed )
Photo proof of trade agreement : http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7150/scamextraob0.png
I was approached in a trade room by ( name removed ) who offered me credits via kiosk for some pins I had. My friend and I followed this kid to his room. When we got to his room he decided he only wanted one of the pins. I told him I was writting down his title in case he decided to trick me and informed him I would report him. I checked his kiosk for the correct amount of credits before the trade. I asked him in the room about the trade "Five grand for a turkey leg pin" he answered yes. Please see photo in link for my proof.

I gave him the pin in trade and when we exited trade he boot me and then boot friend (seen in photo as (name reomoved) ).
I went to one of ( name removed ) rooms and informed him if he did not return the pin he would be reported and I had taken a screen photo. He proceded to boot me again from his room and not return the stolen item. I reported him in game so that he would not be able to scam anyone else. The reply I got back from staff was
" help button is only for emergencies " and some other stuff.
The problem I had was this; This kid was allowed to stay in game trading and scamming others. Nothing was done to stop him in his tracks. I did my best to report a player who was clearly breaking the rules and staff chose to do nothing. Luckly I am an adult and not some kid that was crying in their room because of a stolen item. I know staff have the ability to check a trade and see what happened. They also have the ability to check the chat log to see what was said. Why was this person allowed to continue stealing from others? I watched him go in and out of rooms for well over an hour trading and offering. I did my best to inform others to only trade for actual items and not to trust him to trade credits. But why should a parent have to go and follow a person around to protect others from him stealing when staff had the ability to stop him? I am sadly disappionted in how a disney run site chooses to treat their guests. Clearly this is not what Yavn wanted when he created VMK and clearly staff need to take a tougher stand on stealing in game. Kids in this game work very hard for their items and to have them stolen and see staff do nothing is just wrong. You know it and I know it. To a kid it is the equivilant of having someone hit them in the face, tell a parent about it, and watch the parent walk away while they see the kid abuse others. They feel abondoned and helpless even when there is adults there who are supposed to be protecting them.

Ok stepping off my soap box :goodvibes lol See you all tomorrow for some pirates

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. You are absolutely right. The rotten people get to continue to wreak havoc while the innocent seem to get scammed/banned/coerced. Please pm me the name of the scammer.

Please forward this person's VMK id to me and the other MODS thank you.

so sorry this happened to you.

I also wanted to add that not everyone who runs a Trade Room with Payment through Kiosk are scammers.

This is why I tell the four of my kids that play vmk to keep their trades turned off, mom will take care of trades. This is supposed to be fun and "safe" for kids. Personally, I hate for them to even chat when they play because of the atrocious vmk dictionary, I'm quite the stickler for proper grammer, and vmk isn't doing these kids any favors with dictionary dancing.

Please pm me the title of this player so I can steer clear and warn my kids just in case.;)

Very sorry that this happened to you, could you please PM me the title if you have a chance? thanks :)

Aww! Hugs!

While I can't stand that these scammers get away with what they do, VMK will probably do nothing about your case. :sad2:
VMK does not condone trading credits with the kiosk. They generally look the other way when we do this, but they really don't condone it. They will just say "you gave the item up and clicked ok on the trade without receiving anything in the same trade window".

This is why when trading for credits, I always want my credits first. Especially if it's only for one item.

Can you please send me the name of this person?

That stinks! Even if the item wasn't of that much worth, it's still not fair that someone just got away with it. You could have just given it without payment to someone you know who would have been appreciate about it! Please PM me the name. I usually stay away from trade rooms and only trade with people on DIS that I can tell are reliable but once in a while, I do like to check out trade rooms. Thanks.

This is why I had helped with a trade that included credits. I held the item
to be traded AND checked the quest kiosk to verify the amount of credits
placed into it.

I can understand you wouldn't particularly care about using a liaison for
a turkey leg pin, but that's pretty much the only solution I can think of
to thwart quest kiosk scamming.

WDW,
sorry this happened to you....you are the second friend of mine scammed this month alone by trading thru kiosk....... :( so sad we can't trust people

please pm me the name of this scammer

Or only do trades with players who have good reputations of trading with Kiosk.

Just because a player has a kiosk and is trading credits for items does not make them a scammer.:scared1:

We should not generalize players like that.

Ask around if you are unsure about a player before making a trade thru a kiosk.

 Thanks Mal. That's exactly what I was thinking. It's sad and frustrating to know that there are bad apples on the game that are making it hard to trust the honest players.

Ok, Pm's sent to all that asked.

I agree Mal not everyone is a scammer. I have had trades that went through perfectly fine before with others (with and without leaders helping)

I normally use a Leader for any trades like that but just one of those freak things that nobody was on and I knew I had more of those pins so even if he did take off with it I would be ok. Just saddens me to think that the stuff he had in his room for trade was probably stolen from kids and others.

I agree Mal, even with a CL you are not always protected. In addition, my girls do not trade with anyone, I need to do it for them.

Also, can you pm me the title? Hope the black hole actually does something about this.

Well seems this kid had a change of heart. He decided that it would be in his best interest to return my pin to me. When I asked him why he scammed me he shrugged it off and laughed. When I told him what he did could have really really hurt some kid his reply was " I lost my head idk lol ". He quickly exited the trade then had the nerve to ask me to be my friend. I quickly and politely responded with a trade room full (his room) " I will not be friends with someone who scammed me sorry" to which I was given the boot lol Yay another free flying lesson for me!

Wow. That is pretty nervy. I guess it takes all kinds.

And I wasn't trying to imply earlier that people trading credits via kiosk are
all scammers. I was just thinking that it's so much easier to have scamming
issues on EITHER side of a quest kiosk, so both parties actually take a HUGE
trust risk.

:sad2: oh god, not another scammer:sad2:

at least you got your item back
