Does anybody remember this line from a song? We were trying to remember where we heard this, we think it may have come from a Cat Stevens song.

Cat Stevens it is, but I don't remember the title.

Jimmy Buffet remade it...

Hey, we can win a bet on this! I told everyone that i knew where I could find out the right answer. By the way Shep, other people thought it was Jimmy Buffet too. I don't remeber the remake. We could all owe each other something!

I don't know if Jimmy Buffet has it out anywhere on a record, but I know he sings it at his concerts here...:)

Well, if Jimmy Buffet sings it in his concerts, that's good enough for me. I'm thinking that Cat Stevens had it on an Album (yeah, remember those?). I think we're going to win here on both of them (Cat & Jimmy). I think I should go down in the basement and look at my old albums.

Cat Stevens did have it on an album. I had that album until my sister took it from me. :(

Wait a minute - isn't that an old Sam Cooke song?

According to that lyrics link I put up, Sam Cooke released the original in 1962.

I've also found a couple of no name bands who appear to have released it. I thought you were just looking for lyrics. Sorry 'bout that!

I'm old and remember when Sam Cooke's "Another Saturday Night" came out in 1962 or 63. Sam Cooke is in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and was a major artist in the late 50's until his death in 1964. "You Send Me" was a #1 song in 1957 and sold 1.7 million records. He was shot to death at a hotel in South Central LA.

Darling you (oo-oo) send me. Honest you do! Honest you do!

I wasn't around for the original, but I like that song. ;)

Yep, it was done originally by Sam Cook. Of course I like it by Buffett best He recorded it and is on Mararitaville Cafe. Its hard to find, might get it on e-bay for around 35.00.

Tonight, somebody told me that the Bay City Rollers did this song too. Is that true?

No, but they did have a song about Saturday night. It was titled S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Saturday! or something like that. :)
