Another room occupancy question

Sorry if this or something similar has been posted before.

I know that five in a value room will be very, very cramped. However, we only sleep in the room, as all of our time is spent at the parks. We've done this once for 2 nights and it wasn't that bad - 3 Adults, 1 7 YO, 1 9mo old.

Now, here's our situation. We have 8 nights booked at POP. DW, our 2 children (ages 9 and 2), her friend, and her son (age 2) will be staying the first 7 nights. The last night, it will be me, DW, my mom, and our 2 children. NEVER will there more than 4 plus one under 3 in the room. This last group will be transferring over to a 1 BR villa. We just couldn't get that first night at the villa so to keep us from moving more than once, we added a night to the first ressie. As long as we don't exceed maximum occupancy, does it matter whose names are on the ressies? I know that after 7 nights, the first group could check out and then DW, the kiddos, mom, and myself could check in, but I don't want to risk the chance of having to change rooms for just one night.

What is the opinion of you seasoned Disney vacationers?
Thanks :thumbsup2

As long as you have the "who pays what" and the "ticket issues" worked out with all of you I don't see any major issue here. If you and your mom are the ones not on the reservation you will not have park tix associated with your room key, and DW's friend would still have a key to your room...but those are minor issues.
I just hope everyone gets along really, really well. We've done the tight quarters travel and it takes close relationshis to stand it, but it can be done. :)

Have fun (that's the important part anyway!)

If you plan on attending any of the extra magic hours you won't be able to. Disney issues a room key for everyone in the room. You have exceeded the room occupancy.

No he hasn't. You need to back and re-read his post.

The only thing I can see is that you will need to explain everything to the front desk because you won't be able to get KTTW cards for everyone at the same time. So you will need to explain that some are leaving and some are coming. Does this make sense??

If you need to use the Magical Express that could be a problem since your name would need to be on the room reservation.

separate the ressie to officially include Mom on the last night. Just work it out with the front desk. It really isn't to their advantage to move you either, unless you have a connecting room and they need it for a family starting a longer stay. It really won't be that bad packing a day early anyway if you have to be moved w/in the resort. You have to pack the next day anyway so you'll just be ready early.

If I'm reading this correctly, the friends and her two year old son will be leaving after the first seven nights. Then you and mom move in for one night.

So - seven nights, wife, friend, 9 year old, 2 two year olds.
Lat night - you, wife, mom, 9 year old, 2 year old

The only problem that I can possible see is that for the first seven nights, you will have two two year olds in that room. There is no way you are going to be able to get two pack and plays in that room. And I don't know what the requirements are for the second two year old. I don't know if Disney will allow you to treat them as older than three for room occupancy.

That would be a question you would need to ask Disney. If they allow you to do it, then make the entire 8 night reservation in your wife's name and give them the names of everyone for the first seven nights. Your friend can pass over her key to you BUT, the first two year old would not have a room key so you would have to get your mom one. You would at that time need to change the names on the reservation. All the keys to the room might have to be redone.

Yes (is, I think, the answer to your statement :)). Room occupancy is limited to four Guests, plus one child under three (expected to sleep) in a Pack & Play. Additional children under three count toward the actual room occupancy - so they'll always be within the limits, as the OP stated. The only other issue I see aside from what's already been mentioned (KTTW, EMH, DME, basic floor space) is that there's an additional $10 per night charge for a third adult in a Value room.
