Do the guests filling the room block have to book direct with Disney?

No they can book with anyone and just make sure you provide the reference number to Disney.

Can I ask did you have a intimate or a custom and if it was a custom did you have trouble filling your room block? There are only going to be 10 or 11 of us and I know family are having to save hard to be there with us as it is (coming from the UK), financially for them getting villas is the best option not a Disney hotel but I really wanted a custom wedding.

Our guests had to book through group reservations at Disney which is a separate department from CRO and therefore if they were using a travel agent they had to call that specific number and I don't believe the agent rec'd any credit for the room. This was the only way our guests could receive the discounts on the room.

If they do a disney villa - that still counts - I have 2 families doing that for my custom. How many nights will you be staying yourselves? We're staying 9, so we're almost half way to our minimum just with our nights. It's really not that hard if you have people who will stay a week or so.
