A couple of families from this trip have started to report about our cruise. I felt I had to add my two cents too!

This was our first cruise, ever, and we didn't know what to expect! I had been reading the boards for a few months, so I knew to order gift baskets from The Perfect Gift, to order SafeSea, to bring ziplock bags, and much more!We were impressed at how easy it was to transfer from the bus to the ship (and it was cool to hear our name announced!). We found our stateroom with out any trouble, and were pleased that it was as roomy as it was, and the port hole was as big as it was, and that our luggage was waiting for us in the hall (my DD's were excited about their gift baskets too!)

The sail away party was fun, our younger DD was excited to see the Disney characters, to be able to dance, and I'm pretty sure I heard the ship's horn as we hit zero on the countdown.

Our first night dinner rotation was at Tritons. I was surprised to see how many gentlemen ignored the jacket request that Disney made (DH was stylish in his sportcoat, shirt and tie thank you very much!). I was SO looking forward to trying all sorts of different foods, but unfortunately for me, my dinner the night before the cruise on land was a bad (I found out later) piece of fish, and I was paying dearly for it, so I had to leave the dining room a couple of times in search of a bathroom! I managed to eat a little of the lamb, it was good!

Our older DD had met a couple of girls her age on these boards, so they got together each night after dinner to hang out. Our younger DD had quality mom and dad time (we chose not to put her in the club, as her age was right at the cut off, we figured the older club would be too advanced for her, but she technically was too old for the younger club). We did enjoy the shows, and walking around the deck!

To anyone who may have been near stateroom 7012, I hereby apologize for keeping you up Thurs. night with the constant flushing of our toilet! (I was one sick puppy!). I thought for sure I wouldn't make it off the boat Friday in Nassau for the dolphin encounter, but after a couple of bananas, and a couple of bottles of water, I made it! DH was able to go on his diving excursion, the girls and I met one of the stars of the latest Mary Kate and Ashley movie. My older DD was a great help to me all day long! At Animator's Pallet that night, Rita, our head waiter, was most helpful in coming up with suggestions for something for me to eat! I settled for chicken broth, a broiled chicken breast, rice, and mixed veggies (but the broccoli was a cruel trick for someone in as much pain as I was!!). I had called DCL a month before we sailed, and asked if we could celebrate DD's birthday with a cake. It was supposed to come the last night, but instead, we were ALL surprised with it showing up Fri. night! For DD it was perfect, between all the festivities on board the ship, pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Snow White, and Cinderella in the Atium, and the sail away party (more dancing!) she thought it was all for her birthday celebration!

Castaway Cay, I spent sitting in a chair, or occasionally wading into the water. DD and DH had fun. Dinner at Parrot Cay, I actually ate off the menu. For me this was GREAT excitement. Disney Dreams was breathtaking! I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it, let alone describe it to someone! Even tho' we hit those rough seas Sat., it was still an enjoyable sail home. (I found it truly amazing to watch the entire cast sway at once when we hit a swell during the finale).

Disembarkment surprised me the most! Walking through customs, without any hassle was a pleasant surprise. I thought at the meeting we attended on Sat. afternoon, the cruise director said our luggage would be arranged in stateroom order, not area. We found all but one of our pieces of luggage after two passes (turns out a little girl was resting on our last piece, so we thought it belonged to her family). Getting onto the bus by 8 a.m. was unexpected, but appreciated. We had time to kill before our 12:55 flighthome (and we were worried we'd be cutting it close!).

Since Sat. night, we've all talked about how we plan on doing another cruise in the near future (for me, if for no other reason to be able to enjoy the food this time!). Disney really knows how to do it right for families, and it was, all in all, a Wonderful experience!

What time did you end up getting to the airport for your flight home? I just booked a 11:35 return flight for December. Do you think I'll be okay?

We arrived at the airport at 9:00 a.m. If you have requested the main dining time (6:00 p.m.), you'll have the early breakfast (6:45 a.m.) so you can get off the ship by 7:30. If you're flying one of the more popular airlines, you may be able to check your luggage at Port Canaveral. We flew ATA, not very popular, so we checked ours at the airport. Just as a fyi, a DCL rep. told me when I asked what the earliest time was for a flight out that they recommended, I was told 12:30. We had plenty of time for our 12:55 flight.
