Another repositioning cruise?

About Disney "buying" a pier in SF, something like that would most likely get the attention of the media, so I doubt that this is so. Also the cruiselines don't generally actually own the piers/terminals. They pay rent to the various port authorities. To get "upgrades" the agree to pay X amount of of $'s for X years. They then strongly influence design.

For example Carnival recently reached an agreement with the NY/NJ port authority to in essence build a whole new cruise ship terminal in Brooklyn. To do this Carnival has pledged they there will be x number of passengers going through the terminal each year for a certain number of years. The port authority gets a "cut" of each passenger's fare to pay for the this new terminal

Also, while the Disney family is involved in Napa, they really don't have anything to do with Disney Corporate in regards to things like this, unless Roy Jr's company provided financing for the redevelopment of piers for non-cruise type purposes.

There is open cabins right now. I just checked. They have cat. 9, 10, and 11 open. I checked on Disney.com. Hope to meet you on the repo cruise in Aug.

I can probably guarantee one thing, they won't start off as economical as they did this time. But that isn't going to stop me from booking!!!!!

i think they are seriously considering hawaii and alaska for 2007 ports...and i agree with everyone else that those plans will be announced in July! The big questions will be...can i afford it??? :flower:

If we reserve the repo cruises you can guarantee that i will be working part time in California for extra $$$ as a fly in rn!!!! :goodvibes

DCL is corporately ran out of Disney Resorts. To do a Disneyland tie-end that means they need to cruise out of Long Beach or (a strech) San Diego. To get a roundtrip Hawaii or Alaska cruise from those ports you are talking close to 14 days. Since most people are taking shorter vacations I think that is against what the market is doing.

More logical, would be a 7 day cruise down the Mexican Riviera. That way you will get the local market who wants to do a Disney cruise along with the people who want to do a cruise with a one or two day trip to Disneyland

i agree...as discussed on another thread, i do not believe the market is there for lots of european/aslaskan long cruises...but i could see disney doing a special alaskan or hawaii cruise while in port and the rest mexican riviera...questions...on a hawaii cruise, how many days at sea to reach hawaii and are there any places for port stops? :confused3

Out of LA, San Diego or Ensenada you're looking at 2 days at sea to get to Hawaii and 2 days at sea to get back - no port stops in between.
