Hi

So my plan is to use the kiosk; however my ressie says level of service "counter"

I'm not using any shady codes, just and online 1 class upgrade and sams club code. It does give me the option to enter my info using the save time option. Is this just the standard verbage or will I be flagged to go to the counter if I use the kiosk?

The level of service relates to the Emerald Club. If your reservation shows a picture of the Kiosk below the Save Time image you can use the Kiosk. If there is not a picture of a Kiosk then your reservation is not eligible for the Kiosk.

I notice you are using the upgrade coupon. You may save some money using the $40 off weekly or $20 off weekends coupon here:

An upgrade almost always guarantees a visit to the counter. No way to avoid it. I agree, maybe you can crunch your numbers and do better with a higher coupon and avoid the counter.

I always check out what the prices are without any codes/coupons first. Also often the cars that are clustered around the 'standard' size all go for about the same rate so you can basically get an upgrade and just use the kiosk or Emerald Club without the hassle of going to the counter with the upgrade coupon.

Oh! And KEEP checking the rates as your trip gets closer, even on the day you leave. Prices on rental cars go up and down like a yo-yo all the time. I was checking my rental car for a trip to San Francisco later this month and ran into some type of sale that disappeared the next day(the next time I checked). I'm now paying $80 TOTAL - including all those pesky taxes and airport fees - for a full-size (Chevy Impala or similar) from a Thursday at midnight to a Sunday around 8:30.
