Another reason why I won't touch KFC...

I'm definetly not a PETA person, but after watching that video it makes me think twice about eating processed meats.

Disgusting. Those people should get the same treatment. Well, not really but they should be put in jail. It's one thing to slaughter an animal as humanely as possible but there's no reason they should be tortured like that. I agree it's not KFC's fault and they appear to have take (IMO) appropriate action. Boycott them if you want, it's your choice.

My goodness, if you did, you'd have learned from a "reliable source" several years ago that all the chickens used at KFC are genetically grown organisms grown in large tanks from formerly chicken DNA, grown as parts only. Read people, Read! You can learn so many interesting facts from reading emails. It is especially important to forward important news like the genetiacally grown chicken parts to everyone you know. America needs to know!!

Seriously, I didn't see the film but it does sound terrible.

Pilgrim's Pride is the brand of chickens the SuperWallmarts carry, the largest grocery chain in the USA. I buy them and bar-b-que them . I won't look at the video and will continue to buy these chickens AND I will always do exactly the opposite of ANYTHING the opposite that PETA says to do-they are a bunch of fruitcakes!

Really, I wouldn't trust any video that Peta puts out. Many of things they're showing on that clip aren't "abuse" at all. If you're going to slaughter chickens....well, they're going to have to be killed. Cruel as it sounds, slitting their throats is as quick a death as anything else. Long ago, chickens were killed by wringing their necks. Perhaps we should go back to that method.

Why focus on KFC? Any company that is in the business of raising chickens have much the same practices. I've driven through Arkansas (chicken capital of the world, I think) and the smell as you drive by those huge chicken coops is disgusting!

If Peta had their way, we'd all be vegetarians or if not, we'd be paying an outrageous price for any meat due to the ridiculous requirements they believe meat and poultry producers should have to follow.

Yes, because they put the animals up to acting abused and mistreated for the cameras.

You'd be shocked at what you eat.

And my "slave" Monty Dog would be running around the wild fending for himself. Because it's cruel to keep pets. You guys ought to come and take me in on cruelty charges. Last night, I let Monty Dog sit in my lap while I was watching tv. I was watching animal planet because I revel in seeing other species forced to humiliate themselves for my entertainment.

It had something to do with vets, you know those evil men and women who get paid to give dogs shots that other dogs had to suffer and die in labs to have made. Never mind the thousands of other dogs lives that were saved, right? The fact that I have given Monty a rabies shot means I support all animal research. I'm a bad person because I have never firebombed a research lab.

I might as well just stop calling myself an animal lover because I belive in the circle of life on this planet and thus eat meat and feed my dog meat. Don't you know that all domestic animals should be eating vegan diets??? I should be tossed in prison.

And OMG, I wore a faux fur coat once. I thought it was cute. It was all synthetic but you know, it doesn't matter that it was fake because I was encouraging that look. That means someone ought to attack me and scare my 12 yo neice 1/2 to death at a theater by tossing red paint all over me.

That's okay, because I probably would have left and gone to a zoo (like disney AK) where animals are put on display and tortured. Everyone knows endangered species would be better off in the wild where poachers would kill them for their fur and ivory, right? I mean it would be one thing if zoos promoted education and research, but they don't. And they definately don't help in breeding programs to keep species alive. My word, what sort of demon devil person would give their money to a zoo???

I better go take some dietary supplements to support my health while on my unnatural vegan diet. I just won't think about the acres of land that were torn apart to put up the factories that produce the supplements. I feel better that way.

I work with a hardcore PETA person. He is scary, sickly and would not think twice about setting off a bomb in a research lab. He knows people who have done such things. All of them were members of PETA and / or groups PETA supports.

I belive in animal rights. I donate my animal rights money to no-kill animal shelters and low cost vaccination clinics. I suugest people who support PETA look into what PETA actually stands for and do the same.

And be careful wearing anything that may be mistaken for real fur or leather when you are out with your small children. Unless you want them to witness you possibly being attacked.

I too donate to the Humane Society. I drop all my spare change whenever I go to the shelter. My 3 cats are all shelter cats. I love animals more than I like people at times. I go to SeaWorld and enjoy looking at the wildlife that I may never see otherwise, and see animals that look happy to be there. Is Shamu mistreated?

I am a human. Humans are carnivoures. I like steak. I like chicken. I like pork. I will continue to eat those things. I think the animals they come from are cute and cuddley. But that wont stop me from eating them. I dont think about how the cow was slaughtered when I am biting into a thick juicy steak.

Just a minor correction--we're actually omnivores (our bodies are made to consume and digest both plant and animal foods). It always drove me nuts when my vegetarian friends would refer to non-vegetarians as "Carnies" (carnivores) so I'm in the habit of correcting that when I see/hear it. LOL


Aside from that minor point, I agree with your post.

We were made to eat plants AND animals. What really bothers me is people who insist on feeding their dog/cat/ferret nothing but vegan food. (and yes I know the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian so please no lectures).

I know of at least 5 cases from when I had a job at a pet store where people who were in buying supplies would say that they had a vegan pet die.

All in all, 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 ferrets. The dog was a on a vegatarian diet, the cats and ferrets were on a vegan diet. All died of malnutrition.

Actually, yes I would love too....but I've been caught in hot topic threads like this on the CB before and have been burned & attacked too many times (and harassed via PMs). Once a poster has been jumped on by the "CB Friends Network" all it is is just a ripping apart of the poster. You can do a search on my name if you'd like - I've had well-thought out responses previously.

I should have just stayed off the CB today to begin with.

I'm exiting the thread not because I'm afraid of a challenge or do not have a retort, but because not only do I not feel like being ripped apart by the likes of you and your gang, but I have work to do. It's not worth it to me.

I'll know better than to visit the CB next time.

I had seen the chicken story last night on the news and man it ticked me off. KFC said that they will stop using that company that provides the chickens if they don't stop with the cruelity, but instead, why don't they already buy their chickens from somewhere else instead of giving them a second chance with something so insane .
