Another question !!

We will have 2 car seats with us, one for a 3 yr old and another for 8 month old!in our party . Now we usually do dtd check in, ( usually just 3 of us -adults)
anyway what i wanted to know is can we do dtd check in but keep the car seats and check them in at the airport?
if we can get rid of the cases in the morning it would be so much easier.

This is what we plan to do, we will also have two car seats

We are going to do the same at gatwick as well twilifht check in then car seats next day

yes, you can check in your luggage before you check in your car seats.

It all has to be with you at check in though, even the car seats as they need to check them is what we were told

You don't need to take you car seats to DTD check in.

When at the desk we always tell them we have a seat to drop at the airport but they do not issue the tag for it.

Once I get to the airport I take my boarding card and the seat to the desk - they tag it and then I take it to oversize baggage.

Never done it a twlight as we stay at the Hilton so drop the seat off at the same time as the cases.

I spoke to va this morning and having worked for them too, they told me to take everything to check in, i was alwys givng that nfo when i worked there too

We have done it 5 times and not once have they asked to see the car seat even though every time I have told them I have it to check it. I think they are used to it there though. Never had a problem when dropping it at the airport either. Always get told to use the bag drop desk or as we fly PE we can use the PE desks at the airport whichever has the shortest queues!

Just to save you having to get them out of the car and then back in again - I would leave them and tell the staff you have them but want to keep them till you get to the airport. You can always grab them if they do ask.
