Some of you might remember my thread last week about buying a KitchAid mixer for DW Lauri. We finally did get one and Lauri got to use it finally for the first time today since I was laying new laminate flooring in the kitchen.

She said that the beater hits the side of the bowl and the bowl rattles back and forth. She tried raising and lowering the beater as per directions in the manual but it didn't help.

Is the bowl supposed to vibrate and rattle when mixing even at a low speed? Are we missing something? The bowl is securely on the two pegs on either side.

I did get some yummy chocolate cookies that were kind of like a brownie with a peanut buttery buckeye like center today!

In addition to putting it securely on the 2 pegs did she push it all the way down in the back? It should not rattle at any speed at all. The only time it does that is if I forget to push all the way. It is hard and loud so don't be afraid to break it.

You have to make sure the bowl is locked in....

place the bowl in the stand, then turn it until it locks

when it is locked, when you lift up the bowl it will not come out, it will lift the entire mixer with it

I accidentally didn't lock it while making mashed potatoes and potatoes went everywhere

IT SHOULD NOT BE HITTING THE SIDES OR BOUNCING AROUND

kinda hard to explain the locking part, if this didn't make sense let me know and I will try to reexplain it :)

I bet you something happened with the locking part. Lauri's been having trouble reading and comprehending at times due to an illness that has gotten out of control :sad1: so she could have easily missed that part no matter how many times she read the manual.

Thanks for your help. I think I'm getting chocolate chip cookies tomorrow so I thank you from the bottom of my stomach ;)

The locking in the back part is not easy to see. The side pegs are kinda obvious. But basically push the sucker in until it clinks, and it shouldn't move.

Congrats on your new Kitchen Aid...you are gonna love it!

 Just a tip from one owner to another... putting felt pads on the feet under the mixer makes it a breeze to move the Kitchen Aid on the counter. I learned this one on the DIS and told my DM, she asked me why we didn't know this twenty years sooner.

Happy mixing,
Mrs. Disney Ron

Hmmmmm, how long would it take me to get there. . . :scratchin

And would there be any cookies left when I did!:confused3

It would be a close call.. very close. :rotfl: Lauri did say these chocolate peanut butter cookies were really easy to make (probably since she didn't have to try to mix the peanut butter and sugar by hand). I'm sure she can be talked into making another batch if you and Shug want to visit :)
