Another question about switching room occupants

We booked 2 rooms using placeholders for our upcoming cruise. One in my name and one in my husbands name. Our daughter and son in law are traveling with us. Right now she is listed in my room and he is listed in my husband's room. Once on board we would like to switch so each couple has their own room. Do we need to do this formally or can we just request extra keys and do it on our own. we had to book the rooms this way to keep the discount.

Thanks !

You can get extra key cards on board. Each person will need to attend muster drill at the station for the cabin they are booked in. I think only the "official" KTTW will be able to charge. Have fun!

The only slight issue you might have is with Credit Cards linked to the rooms. Depending on how important to you that each couple charge expenses to "their own" credit card. If you are fine with "settling up" afterwards, no worries, but if you want to make sure all of your DD and SIL charges go to their credit card, it can be done. When you do the online check-in, it will ask you (among other things) for a Credit Card number for the room, then it will ask you who can use it. It also has a place to enter a second card, and who can use that one. My mother stayed in the room with my sister's family, and in this way, expenses incurred by my mother (automatic room tips and anything she paid for with her KTTW card) when to her own credit card, instead of my sister's card.

So in your case, you could put your card number in both rooms for you and your husband and then list a second card and assign it to your daughter in one room and SIL in the other room. They will then use their primary KTTW card to make any purchases, and their "extra" card to sleep in the right room.

And you can be upfront about it with your room steward. You aren't doing anything wrong. Happens all the time for various reasons.

FYI: if you like to carry your KTTW card in a lanyard and your the one with the extra key card the tap to open won't work with 2 cards back to back.
I asked for an extra plastic sleeve and did this:

There's really no issue with this. Each KTTW card can be set up with it's own credit card, if you want, regardless of what room that KTTW card actually belongs to (and what room that person actually sleeps in).

You do this during the online check in process. Or at check in at the port. Or you can even wait and do it once onboard at Guest Services.
