another question about newborns in Disney

Good news about storing breastmilk. You can actually store refrigerated milk for up to 8 days. I was just reviewing the current guidelines since I am due in a couple months. I couldn't remember the exact time, but I remember storing refrigerated milk for most of the week. If you do pump on your cruise followed by WDW it should be easy and safe to leave refrigerated milk for you mother (just don't freeze it after it has been in the refrigerator for more than a 6-8 hours). Here are the current guidelines from LLLI:

Storage Guidelines
'Storing milk in 2-4 ounce amounts may reduce waste. Refrigerated milk has more anti-infective properties than frozen milk. Cool milk in refrigerator before adding to frozen milk.

Human milk can be stored

at room temperature (66-72F, 19-22C) for up to 10 hours
in a refrigerator (32-39F, 0-4C) for up to 8 days
in a freezer compartment inside a refrigerator (variable temperature due to the door opening frequently) for up to 2 weeks
in a freezer compartment with a separate door (variable temperature due to the door opening frequently) for up to 3 to 4 months.
in a separate deep freeze (0F, -19C) for up to 6 months or longer

Have fun,
Jennifer

Thanks everyone. We've thought about shipping ourselves a package of various stuff, including diapers since we'll need so many. We prefer not to rent a car on vacations since we'll both be 24 then and still get that 'under 25' surcharge. This has always been easy for us in WDW since we never needed a car, so to avoid having to go offsite for baby supplies, we'd love to ship a package in advance. We've never done it though so we'll have to find out more about how it works and when to mail it before we go. It's also great to know that breastmilk will last that long, since it'll make it lots easier to plan our days out that way.

By the way, we found out Tuesday that we're having a girl, so we'll get to buy her lots of cute outfits on our trip this week to wear next spring!

Congratulations!! Have fun buying clothes (and decorating the room) for your baby girl. And have a wonderful trip!

Take care,
Jennifer

Have a great time on the trip! My husband and I took our 6 month old girl to Disney in June and she and we loved it! Don't worry about the flight - just bring a discreet blanket to nurse her or a pacifier for the landing. With my doctor and the airline's blessing, my baby (even though 5 weeks early) flew at 1 month old (my dad passed away and we went to his funeral). She then flew at 3 months and 5 months, so we knew our flight would be easy! Bring your car seat and stroller and rent a car! It gives you flexibility to leave parks if she should have a problem. Use the Disney nursing areas - I did (and they are great!). Also, keep that discrete blanket with you to nurse at shows (if necessary). Finally, take advantage of the parent swap for rides you both want to go on - Universal is actually better at this than Disney (all Universal parent swaps are inside, in air-conditioning, but some of Disney's are outside). And, remember, have fun!

Just a note on breastfeeding in Florida,
Florida has a no harrasment law that makes it illegal to "harrass a woman nursing her baby". So, nurse where you feel comfortable.
And, not to be a downer, but, I had a really ugly first few weeks with my son and there was no way I could've gone anywhere let alone WDW. Just a thought...
Good Luck
Gretchen
