I'm still on the fence about Dinosaur. For reference from my experience at DLR...

These are the rides I CANNOT go on:
Star Tours (can't handle it at all)
Space Mountain (can't handle it at all)
Goofy's Sky School (I can go on it...but I am not very happy)

These are the rides that I CAN go on:
BTMR (once per trip is enough)
Matterhorn (once per trip is enough)
Soarin' (love it!)
Radiator Springs Racers (love it!)

So I have already eliminated a few attractions...Mission Space, Sum of All Thrills, Primeval Whirl, RNRC. And I've already decided to try Everest, 7DMR, Barnstormer and Test Track.

But I am on the fence about Dinosaur. I've read a lot about the scariness factor (not a problem). But I haven't heard much about any motion sickness issues with this ride. I have never been on IJ at DLR, so that doesn't help. What can you compare it to? Is there a lot of motion in the dark? (That is what gets me on Space Mountain...my brain can't see where my stomach is going!)

WWYD? Thanks!

Hmmm. It's very dark, and it moves fast. The drops aren't big at all -- it's just a lot of fast, sometimes jerky motion.

I don't know, given your particular brand of motion sickness, whether it would bother you or not. I'm sympathetic, though, because I get it too, but my problem is big drops. DINOSAUR had none of those. But it moves a lot.

Sounds like you are Disneyland regular? I see you haven't been on Indiana Jones? Imagine riding in a jeep going thru a forest. Bumpy terrain, but no movie to watch to make you sick.

Barnstormer is like Gadgets Go Coaster
Primeval Whirl is the same as Goofy's Sky School
Star tours same - makes a lot of people sick
Space Mountain - Disneyland is a lot smoother than DisneyWorld
BTMR - same as Space Mountain - a lot smoother at Disneyland - plus Disneyland has all the new effects
Radiator Springs Racers - amazing! I call it Test Track on steroids!

Mission Space can make you sick and feel out of sorts. Same with Sum of all Thrills.
RNRC - linear induction roller coaster (same launch as California Screamin but inside a building in the dark.

Have you tried Indiana Jones at DLR? It is similar in ride vehicles and intensity. If you don't do well with motion simulators then it may be a bad ride for you. The car jerks you around a lot and it is mainly in the dark, which could throw off your brain to where you are. Star Tours could be the best gauge for jerkiness. The ride does have one segment where it feels like to dip a bit, but most of it feels like you are off-roading in the dark. With the ride tolerance you provided, I would skip. However. just dont get riders remorse, where you regret not going on it once you get home (did that with Expedition Everest before) you dont know until you try.

You've listed exactly the rides I avoid! Except I'm also not a fan of Everest--don't like going backwards! Am totally fine on 7DMT, Barnstormer and TT. Don't do well AT ALL with simulator rides. Did Mission Space once and ruined the next few hours for me. Can't handle spinning. Won't even attempt anything that goes upside down. Will do Space Mountain once but not my favorite at all. Love BTMR and Splash. Do like Soarin' although have to be careful where I focus.

I have absolutely no trouble with Dinosaur at all! Yes, it's dark. But not pitch black dark like Space Mountain. It's more jungle dark like. And as someone mentioned, it's like off roading. Lots of bumping and jerky type motions. But it's not like a coaster at all. No spinning, no real dropping. Really never even thought of it as causing motion sickness and I'm very sensitive to that!

The worst part about Dinosaur is the dinosaur...that darn thing gets me every time! lol. I jump out of my skin when it decides to pop up and say hello! lol

Have you considered taking some ginger candy with you? Ginger is great for motion sickness. It's something I've used before with good results. Myth Busters tested it against different motion sickness medicines and ginger did the best.

Unless you really love dinosaurs, I'd skip it. Motion sickness or not, it's just not that cool. It's loud, jerky, and generally just not very fun. Just my opinion of course. :earsboy:

Have you every tried Psi Bands? They are accupresure bands for your wrists than help with motion sickness. I get really sick in the back of cars and on boats and they have kept my stomach "down" on cruises and in the back of many a taxi in West Africa... and trust me, a West African taxi is as thrilling as the Dinosaur ride!

I got sick on Star Tours and am prone to motion sickness, (even the little magic carpet ride part in Philharmagic gets me) but Dinosaur was completely fine!

I'm extremely prone to motion sickness. I can't do a lot of rides and can't even be a passenger in a car or use a swing set without feeling sick. I take Bonine daily at Disney but it doesn't eliminate it just takes the edge off. Dinosaur has never been a problem for me. It's a jerky ride but doesn't make me feel sick.
