another question about making money for disney trip off ebay

hey i'm intersted in your Palm!!! seriously!! whats your ebay screen name??? i'll go bid

I have found that selling clothes as a lot does better than selling them individually (with the exception of high demand items like Gymboree & Hanna Andersson). If my son has 10 t-shirts he outgrew, I'll get more selling them as a lot of playcothes than as individual t-shirts. I go through my kids clothes every season and sell the outgrown stuff as a lot -- "Lot fo Girls 3T Falll/Winter Clothes", etc. They just seem to sell better as a lot in my opinion. So do toys. I'll do a lot of Fisher Price Little People, or a lot of stuffed animals, or a lot of baby toys, etc. Oh, and I've found that I get more for my VHS, DVD's, and books at Amazon.com than I do on Ebay.

Are you serious Serena? My username is Traderdoe. Bid Away!!! :hyper:

At amazon.com, just search for the item you want to sell. Once you get on the item page, there will be a button off to the right that says something like "Have One To Sell?" Click on that, and it will take you through the steps to list it. It's a little different from an auction. You set a definite price (no bidding), and the buyer pays Amazon.com directly, then Amazon.com sends the money to your checking account. I do it all the time (just sold three DVD sets yesterday), so let me know if you have any more questions!

We can't ship the Soloflex. Its available for pickup in our home or we'll deliver it locally for $35. If you look at other auctions, you'll see 99% of them are offered this way. As a matter of fact, we bought the Soloflex on Ebay a few years ago and picked it up locally.

does amazon charge a fee to list, etc?

Yes, they do, and though I don't know the exact percent I know it's a little higher than ebay. On the plus side, though, you can usually get a higher price than ebay *and* Amazon.com reimburses you a good chunk of the shipping cost (usually $1.84 for items shipped media mail and $3.65 for items shipped priority mail).

kids pajamas sell really good. I put some of my kids clothes on and they didn't get very far. I sold a lion king toddler bathrobe that I bought for my kids at a thrift store years ago and probably paid $2 for, went for $10.50. That was a profit for sure. I put alot of disney stuff on and just about all but the sweaters sold. I think it's to late in the season to sell those. I have a little mermaid 24 pc bedding and room set that's at $65.50 already with 4 days still to go. I have ran into a time when I put something on and didn't get quite what I wanted for it but couldn't start it so high that no one would bid on it. But hey I'm still learning $200 in 1 1/2 weeks is not bad though (that's after fees.

ebay name dsnywrldcrzy.:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Thanks for bidding Serena!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wave2:

Can someone explain the Paypal fees? I have just started and am learning as I go. I have my first listings on, and understand listing fees, and I understand the % Ebay gets at the end. Just haven't figured out Paypal fees yet!

Also, can anyone help me get organized with shipping? Do most people have a supply of Priority boxes and labels at home, or use UPS, or what? HELP!

tbserena

You only pay fees (or have them deducted from the paid amount as it were) if you have a Premier Account with PayPal. Personal Accounts do not get charged.

The fees are 2.9% of final bid amount plus 30 cents.

As for shipping, I suse Priority Mail if the cost of shipping otherwise (Parcel Post) is about the same price.

Premier accounts can accept credit card payments as well as direct transfers from a linked bank account or echeck. Personal accounts only accept the transfers and echecks.

ok do you think it's worth it to have a premier account? i get verified monday (tomorrow)

I was told you could order free priority boxes and labels from the USPS website, but can't find it on there. Anyone know about that?
