Another Princess In Town Day 3 - Part 2
Cafe mickey was empty us and 1 other table. Advice to dine at 12 spot on. Packed from 12.30 onwards... Lots of attention from characters Mickey wrote what is her name? on a napkin so he could put Annas name in her book and later came back with sweets for DD.
DD keen to meet characters unlike last years pics of her clinging to Daddy. Very keen to meet Pluto and then said Goofy was her fave. Dale was impressed I knew it was him (not chip)!
Food was lovely alot better than expected and covered by premium vouchers. Saw most of the characters than sat back and ate. I sat on bench next to DD so I could see, rather than on the chair back to restaurant lady next to me did the same.
Again well worth it (will do a review in the reviews bit) will do again next time. Good rest for me, 1 ½ hours air conditioning, 6 plus characters . I was panicking because we had nearly filled DDs book and the characters kept coming!
After lunch went to Studios. Went on flying carpets which were a big hit with DD because she could sit in the front and me in the back (move over Dumbo!). Cars ride broke down as we were waiting. Got to Playhouse Disney show (had checked the times day before) at 1.50ish for 2.30 show and queue was already long.
This was the thing I was most disappointed with. Only 3 shows in English 11.15, 2.30 and 5.30. 6 ? in French. Obviously the English show was attracting germans, Italians, dutch etc. 400 tickets a show it said.
Went into a big room with a big screen showing playhouse Disney so far ok. You then went into alot smaller room to watch the show. It was packed to crush level people had literally nowhere to sit. People were loudly complaining there were no seats and alot of older people were struggling to sit on the floor. Kids crying because they couldnt see.
The idea was good but there was no space to dance. I prayed DD wouldnt need a wee as there was no way we would get out, we were in the middle (I imagine there will be some damp patches on the carpet!)It was hot and no air I couldnt have lasted much longer in there.
DD thought the show was ok, she joined in but wasnt wowed host had to keep telling the kids to stand up but as soon as they stood up you had to get them to sit down again so the kids behind could see?!
After that Stitch live huge hit which given that DD didnt know who he was until yesterday was a surprise. I loved this show last year and again this time. DD willing sat on the floor at the front with the other little girls. Last year husband got picked by stitch (sitting on the left back row) man in same spot got picked is the camera always there? DD got picked as a human with 4 ears (she had Minnie ear clips in!) Id told her daddy was stitches friend on the way in as stitch had picked him (I was worried she might be scared of stitch) on the way out she proudly told me she was also stitchs friend...
Cars ride (not a patch on teacups for DD and I dont like waltzer type rides) Carpets (big hit) then back for parade in the other park.
Watched from disabled are near city hall. Best view of floats and tigger/winnie etc dancing.
Tigger had to have a rest (it was HOT) and the castmember checked he was ok.
Characters again came over to our area piglet climbed onto kerb (nearly falling over eyeore) and hugged the girl in the wheelchair next to me to her delight.
After parade we were hot so got a coke in bake shop but v difficult to negotiate with buggy.
Tried to use buzz fp late that I got earlier earlier but fp entrance shut so got a EAC fp for later as had promised DD one last ride on her fave ride..
This threw me so we went to fantasyland for one last go on small world and tea cups at DDs request then bye to the dragon also DDs request. Had a childs mickey pizza each at victorias 5e each! Ate it outside on the tables overlooking castle DD enjoyed it.
By this point I thought I was cutting it fine for train.
Went on buzz and it stopped for technical difficulties...ok it had stopped for a couple of seconds before but it kept stopping then the announcements started. I panicked ! (understatement) DD was mithering me because her shooter isnt working...the least of our worries. After the longest 10 mins of my life it worked and we got going to the exit! Take my advice it is not worth the stress of one last ride...
I power walked/ran to the station (along with everyone else as the park was closing at 7. Got there at 7, got the bag man put the shutter down after us!!(you could get them from the drop off point after that...check in was 6.30 to 7.15 for the 7.37 eurostar so we were fine. Train was already in the station which was alot easier. No seat for DD on way back but I had a single seat and there was enough room for myself and DD (and my bum isnt small!)
Ashford straightforward again up 3 escalators holding pram with bag on and DD in front of me. I suppose there was a lift but everyone was doing the same. Again several people kindly offered me help.
Final thoughts
Had a fabulous time. Could easily have had another night but couldnt have kept the pace up for much longer than that. First trip alone with DD and a real success. First time using disabled EAC I simply didnt know it existed last time. Made a real difference to DD. Virtually all castmembers /characters we met were lovely and really went out of their way with DD which was much appreciated eg on Dumbo the castmember led DD to the pink dumbo and said I think she will like this one...Premium vouchers well worth it. It certainly isnt all fast food only fry I had was one DD begrudgingly gave me! Glad I did the special outfits for DD. Gave me alot of pleasure in the run up to the trip and she got lots of extra attention from other guests, castmembers and characters.
Wouldnt hesitate to go back. A real chance to spend special time with Anna.
Plan is hopefully WDW Dec 09 (with husband!) and I hope a trip to Disney Paris 2010 (funds permitting!)
