HI --

We did what made sense. 200 points at SSR and had great timing since we got in just before the crazy pricing I'm seeing now. yeah us!!! today's resale prices are scary.

But, I just can't decide where to do our 25+ add on.

Seriously, hubby and I are an older couple. Kids are in their 20's. So for at least the next 4-5 years it will be mainly us doing a studio.

Later, anticipating angel grand children & trips with the kids/grandkids, we will move to bigger accomodations and probably buy another add on.

If all things are equal, given our older couple status, does it make more sense to buy at the Poly given that its a monorail resort AND it has more studios (ie assuming more availability for the room we want)..

Not going lie, seriously concerned Poly might sell out before we can decide by dec 20.

I'm under the impression that they won't sell a 25-point contract at CCV. The minimum add-on there is 50 points.

I have been tracking Copper Creek sales since they started in March 2017 and I have only seen a handful of Copper Creek deeds that were for less than 50 points. Each time, these small deeds were sold to individuals who were buying larger deeds at the same time. So, it appears DVD is holding to the rule that buyers need to purchase at least 50 points if they want to add on at Copper Creek.

My guide told me CCV is a minimum 50 pt add on, so I take that to be true.

I know they've bent on the 100 for new buyers (I was offered 75), but I haven't heard of them bending for add-ons at CCV.

Stating the obvious here:
  1. A 25 point contract at CCV is pointless. It doesn't even get you 2 studio nights in adventure season. Sure you can bank and borrow, but you get what I'm saying.
  2. 25 point add ons are intended to be for a matching resort.
CCV is new enough that a 50 point minimum makes sense, because that at least is usable on its own. The only way I see them bending for add-ons at CCV is if you already own CCV (which would be 50+).

I agree with @D-Trick above. I’d look at points charts and base my decision on what my actual use of those points would be - unit size, length of stay, season. No sense paying direct prices if you can’t actually use the points.

Pretty sure I put 25+ on my above post so of course we would want enough for a couple of nights. Hmm. I've never seem where it says the add on was intended for your original resort? We already have 200 at our home resort why wouldn't we want to add on elsewhere to maximizw the 11 month window at more than resort?

Where would you like to stay? All resorts are possibilities for add ons, not just PVB or CCV.

Still, it can make sense to make that add on at SSR. You may not need them for the 11 month booking window but it might be nice for the future when you are looking at larger rooms for the entire family. If you intend to use all your points for those stays at that time (vs also doing a short trip as a couple at your add on resort) then it will be nice to not have to wait until 7 months to use those points.

I don't think 25-point contracts at any resort are necessarily pointless, especially for those who enjoy split stays. When utilized wisely, banking and borrowing can make small contracts usable for a short stay. I am not advocating people to go buy 25-point contracts at multiple resorts, but having the 11-month booking advantage at another resort can be useful and not always pointless as you claim.

With 200 points already for studio stays, I assume you are already either taking long trips or multiple trips....?

I think the most "useful" resorts for a 25 point contract (if not using for split stays) would be AKV for a shot at value studios and BWV for standard studios. You can get a 4-5 night trip every other year depending on season at either of those on 25 points. Bump it to 30 for 5-6 nights.

At Poly, you might get 2-3 nights every other year or you'll be needing 3 years worth of points to get 3-4 nights.

My "concern" would be that you won't be able to do anything (in terms of 11 month advantage) with those points when you take the family. So, intend for them to only be for your trips as a couple otherwise you will be using them at the 7 month window anyway. Or be willing to purchase a second add on with a large enough number points at that resort to take your whole family in the future. So, for Poly, you'd need a lot more points to get 2 or more studios for a week with the family. And if you're thinking about a bungalow......:scared1:
