Another picky eater question for resort dining

OK, so I've read about the new menus, talking to chefs ahead of time, etc. But the basic question I still have is . . .

Can i just get a plate of plain pasta at any sitdown resort restaurants?

My 4.5 yr old son has become a picky eater in the last couple of months, and the last thing I want to do on this trip, his first, is to have difficulties over meals. He has scaled back his palate essentially to chicken nuggets, hot dogs and plain pasta for dinner. He eats lots of bagels, fruits, some veggies (mostly carrots and peas), pepperoni (by itself), and loves solid cheese (sticks, sliced gouda, also grated parm, etc). He'll also eat pancakes, waffles and french toast at dinner at home.

Unfortunately we cannot get him to combine some of these - he refuses grilled cheese and mac and cheese because he does not like melted cheese. He refuses pizza because he does not like tomato sauce (and melted cheese). And he will not eat PB&J. I see a pattern of disliking smooth/creamy consistency kinds of things, but we're not aware of any reason for it.

So the staples at many restaurants are still things he will not eat. But as a standby, just plain pasta will work every time. For example, at Cal Grill where we have ressies - they have a nice menu, but unfortunately he will not eat anything on it. . .

Grilled Chicken Breast - might work, but not nuggets
Grilled Petite Filet - haven't tried red meat with him, not anxious to. . .
Homemade Whole-wheat Pizza - see above
Mom's Homemade Macaroni & Cheese - see above
Roasted Salmon - not sure a 4.5 yr old would dig it

Has anyone tried to get just a plate of plain pasta at any of the nicer sitdown restaurants, or are you really limited completely to what they offer on the kids menu? it would seem that if they offer pasta with an adult entree, they could just serve up a plate for him. But I don't want to assume that. We're trying to work around his palate and do buffets and restaurants that offer pasta or nuggets, but there's a few restaurants we've skipped in recent years that we really want to try. Plus, it's difficult to get decent times at some of the buffets because of their popularity.

Thanks for the input. . .

Yes, you can always get plain pasta (or in the case of my somehwat picky daughter, pasta with butter).
