Another Palo's clothing question

It's too bad the search function isn't working. I know all these questions have been answered before, but we're leaving in a few days and I suddenly have all kinds of questions!

Last time we went to Palo's on formal night, so clothing wasn't an issue. This time I'm thinking of doing a different night, because I don't want to miss formal nights in dining room with kids - seeing shows, etc.

So, my question is...do my husband and dad need to bring along another sports coat for Palo's or can they wear dress pants and a shirt and tie, with no jacket? Mom and I will be in dresses anyway, but I'm just trying to figure out if the guys need another jacket.

I have seen everything in Palo, from tuxedos to blue jeans and bare feet!!! I know a jacket is recommended, but I think they would be okay, since I have seen many men in business casual (and the occasional Randy Quaid wanna-be in a t-shirt)

Unless they're wearing a tux on formal night -- why not wear the same jacket or suit? Just a thought.

I agree with Jane, just have them wear the same jacket. My husband brings one suit for formal night and a sports jacket for Palo and/or semi-formal night, and that's it.

The norm for Palo's dinner seems to be either suit and tie or at minimum jacket and dress slacks.

Brunch is more casual, business casual is fine, same for tea.

We saw people turned away from Palo's for not being appropriately dressed. We also saw people turned away for showing up with a baby in a stroller.

If we end up on the LAP rotation, we are thinking of going to Palo on semi-formal night, which is the Captain's Gala (I think--7 night Western).

Will we miss anything wonderful in the dining room that night?

I believe we will otherwise be in Parrot Cay, which is where our formal night will be too.

ducklite, when you saw people turned away from Palo's for not being dressed appropriately, was it only because they were not wearing a jacket, or were they in jeans/tshirt?

i'm curious because we are sailling on the Wonder soon w/ a group of friends, and all of the men have decided to go with dress slacks, dress shirt, and a tie. i asked around here, and that seemed to be ok.

after all, the dress code says jacket recommended not jacket required.

I do suggest that the men wear jackets, but I don't think they'll be turned away in dress slacks, shirts and ties. The Wonder does tend to be more casual than the Magic.

It was chilly the night we dined there, and my DH was glad to be wearing his jacket. He wore a suit and tie and was about in the middle, dress wise. There was one man in a shirt and tie, a couple in tuxes (not formal night) but 95% were in a suit and tie.

Anne, was that on the 7-day, or a shorter cruise? We are on the 3-day, and I wasn't expecting to see ANYONE in tuxes!

It was on the Magic, the seven day. And the couple turned away for improper dress I would think would have been turned away regardless of which ship or sailing. They were just slobs. I wouldn't have gone to Topsiders the way they were dressed!

i remember a few years ago i took a short cruise with DH. on "formal" night, DH wore his suit (he has a tux now that he'd probably wear), but one of the men at the table was wearing a polo shirt and jeans. hmmm. not too formal in my book - not even close!

and once, i was at a wedding....i wore a simple dress and BF at the time had on a suit. we felt this was appropriate attire for a wedding..... well, there was one guy who (i swear!) was wearing jeans, boots, and a tshirt that said "Yes, I always look this good"!!!!

I wonder if he would have gotten turned away from Palo?!?! i always just think it is so interesting to see how people interpret dress codes!
