I know this has been covered before, but, i'm still trying to decide when to book Palo's for dinner. We're going in Sept - Eastern. My b-day is on tuesday. I was going to book for that night, but I understand we don't want to miss tropical night. Not sure of which rotation we'll get. We're going with our 2 kids, 4 & 7 as well as my mom and sister. I'm considering doing the 2 dinner thing, but we have late seating. Anyone done this before? Should I book it for a formal night as we'll already be dressed. Thanks for your help!

I used to worry about which night to book Palo, until I cruised during my birthday week. My birthday was on Tuesday night, too, and since I wanted to eat at Palo on my birthday, that's when we did. Turns out, missing tropical night in the dining room is not that big a deal. We still changed after dinner and went to the tropical party on deck at night. Since then, I've never bothered worrying about which night to do Palo. We just choose a night and go, and let everything else work itself out.

I've said before, I think people expend way too much energy worrying about this. I know I used to.

Missing any night in the dining room is not that big of deal..lol, if you are going to Palo.

Just pick a night..have a back up night, incase they are already booked. Go and enjoy!

yeah, you would not be missing anything spectacular in the dining room on tropical night...They do the limbo and you clap for your servers. The thing you absolutely do not want to miss is the Deck party at 10:30...In the opinion of many, the best night on the ship!!!

Sorry, but I disagree w/those who think missing tropical night or any dining rotation is 'no big deal.'

On tropical night, the waitstaff comes to your table and encourages everyone to get up, form a line, and dance around the dining room, all the while everyone is clapping and singing, 'hot, hot, hot!' There's also a limbo dance. It's something you definitely do not want to miss w/your children.

DH, DD and I had the late seating as well, so we booked Palo for the earliest possible time (6:00pm). Have after-dinner coffee at your regular dining rotation and dine at Palo early if you can. I discourage skipping any dining rotation. :D

I agree with the "Palo over any night in the dining room" post - the food is fantatsic - our server couldn't have been better - and we were wishing we could eat there every night. Don't worry about Tropical Night - go for Palo! Go to the Deck Party later that night.

I wold rather go to Palo than to formal night and I am hoping to be able to book it that way since I did book the REAS package. I found nothing on the menu that I liked on formal night and ended up just getting grilled chicken.
