(Another) Orlando Stroller Rental Question

DDs will be 1 and 5, and I think it will be easier for us AND older DD if she rides in a stroller. I've been planning to rent a double stroller from OSR for our trip.

Tonight at dinner, DH and I were discussing whether to get 2 singles or a double, and now he decides he "doesn't really want to use a stroller everyone else has used". He's quite the germophobe, but knowing what messes kids are capable of making, I guess I kind of understand!

So my questions are: for those of you who have rented from OSR, do they seem new/clean? Is there anything we can use to clean/disinfect the stroller?

We looked at buying a double, but considering we would get NO use out of it when we get home and the fact that to get the nice features the Baby Joggers have, we would have to spend $300+, I really don't think that option makes much sense for us.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Just rented a double from OSR and totally recommend them. Actually, I just referred a friend going in November.

They are clean - you can tell that they are used - the one I had for the 6 days had some worn fabric at the joints where the stroller closes (probably from people folding them!). Other than that they were fantastic! My 5 year old dd wanted us to bring the orange stroller home with us - she loved it that much. And my 1 yr old ds slept in it, no problem.

I did use wet ones wipes on the stroller when my dd dribbled ice cream on the stroller and the ice cream wiped right up. So I guess you could use wipes to wipe them down if you needed to.

I think there are some pictures of the strollers on another thread - maybe do a search for it.

Good Luck with you decision and have a great vacation!

I've rented from Orlando Stroller Rentals twice now (Oct08 and June09). Both times the stroller was very clean and in great shape with no visible stains or problems. As for cleaning and disinfecting, I think wiping it all down with a wet wipe and then spraying with Lysol should do the trick.

I had no desire to purchase a double stroller for my boys, so renting from them was well worth my money. The stroller is fabulous and very easy to push and turn. I loved it. :thumbsup2

WOW! OSR is certainly getting popular, here is a message on their website today...

We are currently out of stock for all stroller rentals from Sept 10 - Sept 17. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We have decided to buy a sit 'n stand stroller instead of renting one. We will be at WDW for 8 days. We can buy one from Toys 'r Us for $109 right now. for us, the convenience of having it to transport the kids through the airport is enough. Add in the fact that we could grab an easy $50 on craigslist for it when we get back, there is no question whether to spend $59 on it or rent a stroller for $80.

Seems like the option for us.

Thank you all for the responses!

My main concern is that the baby chews on her straps (ick!), so since we have a Baby Jogger single, I thought I might just use our straps on the rental. That way if she puts them in her mouth or we get stuff on them, it will be our straps. Just an idea...

Thanks again for the replies :)

Could you bring your own stroller for the baby and get a cheap umbrella stroller for your 5 yr old? We used Klocraft umbrella strollers (similar to the ones sold at WDW) for our kids until they were in the 5-6 yr old range.

Yeah, that's an option, too. I mentioned that to DH and he seems to think pushing 2 is more of as hassle than 1. Also, now that DD has it in her head, she wants to sit right next to her baby sister...I guess I should take advantage of it before they start fighting! :rotfl:

The stroller we got from OSR was really clean! It looked like brand new...no crumbs in the cracks, no stains, no funny smells, no sticky stuff. As far as being clean, it was very. You could always bring some disinfecting wipes to wipe down the seats and handles if you are concerned. Another option is to buy a new stroller and sell it when you are done. I just did that myself...I bought a brand new in the box Maclaren Volo on Ebay that had some stains due to a manufacturing defect ( tiny little ink stains) for $55 including shipping. I have a buyer lined up in Orlando who is picking the stroller up from me at Pop when I am done with it, buying it for $50. So basically I am spending $5 to have a stroller for my 5 night trip. :rotfl2: You can't beat that! :thumbsup2

Our experience w/ OSR is that the stroller was extremely clean, no visible stains anywhere; we wiped it down, and were good to go. I would recommend one double stroller; I know everyone has something different that works for them, but I loved being able to let go of the stroller and just walk on my own sometimes, or if one of us needed to go anywhere (to run and get drinks, whatever) the other could easily manage both kiddos. Plus, the double at OSR has an awesome canopy that protects them at any angle, it can go almost down to their knees if they want, and has a nice recline, too. Even older DD enjoyed being able to lie back a bit. Super easy to maneuver even one handed too.
