I've picked up points from DVC at the 7 month point in the past to help stretch our points for bonus stays. :thumbsup2

I need to book two rooms pre- and post- cruise for next January. I have enough points without borrowing to book the nights needed after the cruise at the 11 month window, but not for the pre-cruise stay. Really don't want to borrow the points if I can rent the points thru DVC.

I would have Zero points left in that UY to book when the 7 month window rolled around to book the pre-cruise stay. The 24 pts i could rent from DVC would be enough to book the required units but wondering if i actually need to have points in my account to which to add those points?

No you do not. If you have a 0 balance, your options are borrowing or 1 time purchase. You should be fine.

Are those 24 pts a hard/fast maximum? If you needed 25 or 27, would they "go speak with a manager", then sell them to you?

yes.

they would be happy to sell you a 25 pt (or 27 pt) contract for cash...where you would pay $100+ per pt and be responsible for maintenance fees every year until the expiration date in 2042 or later...
