Questions from overseas -

DH will be attending a friend's wedding in England (Cumbria, specifically.) How formal is the attire for guests? And if you've been to weddings in both the US and UK, what should I tell him to expect in terms of differences?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the style of wedding. Is it Church or Registry office, for example? The latter is usually (Though not always) less formal.

Men usually wear suits but not evening wear unless specifically requested on the invitation (i.e. black tie). The wedding party may be in morning dress (tails) but that is usually just the groom, best man, fathers and ushers.

I would expect most men to be in grey business suits.

Generally UK weddings are a lot less formal then USA ones.
