Can a person with AAA book a room for someone else if they aren't going on the trip to WDW??

Yes. I booked a room for my DS & his friend for September through my AAA agent and the discount was applied to their room. Neither DS nor his friend are members.

Oh Cool! did it cause any problems on check in? I assume then you just get your park tickets at the park when you get there then? and if it's not too nosey, what is the AAA discount amount?

Maybe if you do it thru AAA diresctly:confused3 But if you do room only and book thru Disney, you need to present the AAA card at check in

No. The AAA discount is for members only, and they can request that you show your membership card at checkin (they did this once for me at the Poly). The primary guest on the reservation must be a AAA member. I'm sure some people have been able to cheat, but surely you would not want to do that.

Wow, the guilt in that statement was palpable. Different places have different policies, that's the only reason I asked, some places allow it as a "gift" or what not. It was not my intention to "cheat".

Im thinking, as a AAA member, that AAA has their policies. Im thinking that the venders (hotels) policies have very little to do with that..
What in that case would prevent a AAA member from buying multiple packages and then 'gifting' them out to others?

The discount ranges from 0% - 20% for disney resorts depends on where you stay and what time of year you go, and if there is any AAA discounts still available, I tried for December to get a ASMU family suite and there was no availablity

I would just hate to see your friends get to Disney and have trouble checking in for some reason, that would not be good. While it may not happen, there is always that chance, up to them if they want to run the risk.

I've booked several room only vacations at WDW for my DH & I with my name being on the reservation and I've "always" had to show my AAA card at check in & they matched it up to my name on the reservation to make sure I qualified for that discount (the ressies were made directly through WDW). In order for my daughter to "use" our AAA account for hotel reservations we had to add her onto our AAA policy and she has her own card in her name individually. Same thing when we used AP's to book rooms, we've always had to show our AP's to prove that we were eligible for the discounts given. :rolleyes1

It states right on the reservation confirmation from Disney that the AAA Card must be presented at check in.

If a AAA Card is not presented, the person checking in could be charged the "rack" rate. Keep in mind, with Disney, many times, the current discount Disney is offering is better than a AAA discount.

If the discount is greater than a AAA membership, I would get a membership. The best part of a AAA membership is the discounts and the maps.

Anytime I have gotten the AAA discount, I have had to give my number when I booked it , and then they asked for my card at check in. If the name on the card does not match the names on the ressie, or you can not produce a AAA card, they DO charge rack rate.I also called and asked my AAA TA if it i allowed to use my membership to book someone elses trip and she told me" No.Only if you are accompanying the person and are on the ressie" .Sorry

I used AAA discount last trip at BC and was asked to show membership card at check in.
