When we were down at WDW three weeks ago (geez, it seems like forever ago :( ) we kept passing a construction road which had a sign BONNET CREEK RESORT. What is this? It was the first I had heard of it. How does it fit into the scheme of hotels already there? When is it supposed to be open?

Any info greatly appreciated.....

Thanks.. Paul

that is not a disney resort, sorry. Other posters will give more info on this resort, I just know disney doesn't own that parcel of land.

It's not a Disney resort, and it's not even on Disney property. From what I am to hear, it will be time shares by Fairfield.

I must say, this new resort is pretty darn close to Caribbean Beach! I was at Trinidad South last month, and can clearly see one large five or six story building very near the perimeter road. There really is not much seperating Bonnet Creek from CBR. Too bad, as I bet it will negatively effect the atmosphere of CBR. :(

Sure seems like it's on Disney property. You could practically walk to it from OKW!

psimom,

I think youre thinking of the Saratoga Springs Resort that Disney is building. It will be on the boat loop from OKW to DTD. Its a DVC resort.

stacy6552,
It isn't Saratoga Springs Resort. SSR is located right next to Downtown Disney. The one psimon is talking about is a parcel right next to CBR owned by a different company, if I'm not mistaken.
=0)

I know everyone says it is not on Disney property but it sure is a nice location. We have driven by it a few times on our trips to WDW and I think the location is wonderful.

I'm kind of shocked Disney let someone else build on this land. Did they sell this land to Fairfield?

It's owned by an outside firm. I believe a Japanese corporation has ties with it. Anyways, it was always this tiny piece of land never bought by the Disney co. that sat there unused due to no real roads passing it. Well fast forward a couple decades and now all of Disney has exploded around it. Since it was landlocked by Disney, they were forced to provide access to it through it's road systems. While it won't be owned or operated by Disney (I've also heard that there will be no cooperation with Disney either, unlike the Swan and Dolphin), I drive by it every day, and it looks like it will be a high class resort.

This is all info gathered through different people that work high up in the Disney chain, so if I'm wrong please correct me.

Next to CBR, it is owned by a Japanese Co. I was asking a CBR driver about it, 3 weeks ago, and he said that parcel of land was NOT owned by Disney, and that the original Owner sold it to a Japanese CO. and they are building a hotel on it. The road is right NEXT to the CBR road.;)

the resort under construction that "you could practically walk to from OKW" is most likely SSR, neither of which is very close to CBR.

Absolutely not! The resort is not Saratoga Springs. This resort specifically says Bonnet Creek Resort. The signnage is very clear on this. I am very familiar with Saratoga Springs and where it is. This is in the opposite direction and maybe a quarter the distance.

You can see the entrance to the construction if you head west on Buena Vista Drive. You pass Bonnet Creek Pkwy on your right. Immediatly after you go under EPCOT Center Drive, the entrance is on your left. See map:

Epcot area map

Hope that helps.

it is literally right over the fence from the CBR
and off property,. Kinda strange that CBR is right on the property line.

Gonna be intersting to see how life pans out for disney as more and more non disney resorts are flocking to the area ...Now even right near disney resorts....Seems like this idea is catching on ....

Hey if its not disney property and within stones throw distance to one of their resorts I wouldve capitalized on this a long time ago

Hope disney stays the way disney is and the outsider resorts dont ruin the atmoisphere

The OP is referring to the Bonnet Creek Resort as others have stated it is being built and managed by Fairfield. It will be a timeshare resort. Also as others stated the piece of land was not available for sell when Disney bought their land. And now that the area is developed around it, Disney must allow access to it on thier roads. It is landlocked by Disney property and I-4. So the only access to it is on Disney roads.

I think the reason many thought maybe you were discussing SSR is the comment that it is walking distance to OKW. I would not consider it walking distance to OKW but definitely to CBR.

As stated the entrance to it is off of Buena Vista Drive just up from the entrance to CBR.

See this link for additional information about Fairfield's Bonnet Creek Resort: Bonnet Creek and this newspaper article from one of the business news on-line journals.

The property was purchased by Fairfield in 2002. It is surrounded on three sides by Disney property and accessible via Buena Vista Drive.
