Another NEW Parade at MK--NOT the 3:00 one!

We were at MK on Tuesday. We arrived sometime between about noon and 1:00- not sure exactly when. We were headed to the bathrooms by City Hall and an announcement came over the loudspeaker that the "Family Fun Day Parade" would be starting in 10 minutes. It said that families would be picked to join the parade. Some college age kids standing the "circle" near the front (by the train station) began hooping and hollering in an obvious attempt to be picked. It didn't appear that they were picked though.

We stopped to see what would happen and a minute or 2 later some vehicles came out of the side between the bathrooms and the "garage" builiding. It was a large white (maybe trolley looking?--I didn't have my camera ready and don't remember for sure) and some musicians including a bass drum that said "Family Fun Day", and then a touring type car filled with Disney Characters--probably at least 6 or so--again, no pictures so I don't completely remember. This procession began up Main Street toward the castle. The front car seemed to be filled with items for the chosen families to use in the parade--maybe pom-poms and other festive items (boy I wish I had a better memory!) The overall color scheme for everything was red, white and blue.

Anyway, a few minutes later, the announcement came that the parade would be starting and would start at the castle and come back down Main Street. Don't remember the exact wording, but it was definitely something about "families fulfilling Dreams of being able to be in a Disney Parade." It said it would end with a Patriotic Tribute at the front of the park (I assume the "circle" area. Probably the families were picked near the castle, not the entrance area where we were.

At that point the "call of nature" took over and I had to get my kids to the bathroom and we never saw any more--we headed to the train right after.

Sorry I didn't get any photos--didn't think I would need the camera on the way to the loo!!!

Hopefully others will be able to report about this with more detail and photos!

Sounds interesting... but basically just a trolley full of guests going up the street? I'd love to hear more.

I don't think the families would be riding--I assumed they would be walking. But since I didn't see it I can't say for sure. The "trolley" wasn't very big.

But it did look like it would just be families doing "parade" type things while marching on Main Street and a few characters--certainly not anything that spectators would line up to watch! But it probably would be lots of fun for little ones to say "WOW, we got to march in a Disney Parade!".

Can't wait to hear back from those that actually see this happen.

That would be the Main Street Family Fun Day Parade. It is very cute, and fun to do.

We were in the parade, as Daisy's pom pom squad on Monday, I believe. We were walking back through the park towards the castle when a CM asked if we'd like to be in the Family Fun parade. They gave us all pom poms, briefly taught us a little routine and we were marching along! We walked down Main street doing our routine with Daisy leading us (I believe there were other characters leading other groups with hula hoops, etc.) Then at the end of main street near the entrance, they gave us flags and had us stand around the circle waving our flags to "You're a grand old flag". The kids loved it...thought they were celebs!
