We're going to WDW in July and are thinking about buying tickets ahead of time. Does anyone know, if I buy them on base do they charge tax for them? Or should I wait and buy them at Shades of Green? TIA.

If you buy them on base, no, you will not pay tax. You won't if you buy them at Shades either. I would buy them on base, though - much easier! Our base discounts them a little bit (it was a $5 discount on the Military Salute tickets). I often buy our tickets on base to save the tax and get a discount. Realize that no matter where you buy them (except if you buy them at the Disney gate and pay tax) you will have to take them to Guest Relations and have them activated, providing your military ID.

Yes, I understand we have to get them activated, we have used the military salute tickets a couple years ago, but we bought them at SOG then. I was thinking that if I bought them at Ft. Bragg they were sold through a travel agency and charged tax where at SOG they were sold through AAFES. It sounds like that's not the case, which would be great for us because we could buy our tickets without the kids bouncing off the walls around us, lol.

Just making sure, since some people don't know about the activation. :thumbsup2

I get them at ITT/MWR. I've gotten them at an AFB, a Navy base and an Army base and it's always ITT/MWR.

I looked at the Fort Bragg link and was appalled!

Other than the Armed Forces Salute and some on or two day child tickets, all they have are three, four or five day hoppers with No Expire. Normally the NE option is not needed, especially for short-duration tickets, as normal tickets do not expire until 14 days from date of first use. And they show Disney Gate Prices inclusive of sales tax, but tickets sold on a military base are not subject to sales tax and their promotional prices are actually higher than Gate.
