Didn't get m Vacation Magic today, but did get another mailing for the homecoming. Wonder how many spaces they ended up having left?

They have tickets, but no reservations. Called yesterday and couldn't get a room for the 25th. If you go, it's from the waiting list. :crowded:

Some time ago, in another thread about Member Homecoming, I recall saying that I thought it was a nice plan that was poorly executed. This doesn't change my mind a bit!

For an event with a clearly defined potential membership and something as expensive as keeping a park open for extra hours, they really could have conducted a couple of studies to check logistics, feasibility, and potential member reaction to their price points. I know people like to knock the Disney organizations, but I think this was uncharacteristically sloppy.

By the time members heard about the event, it was well within the 7 month window, making it difficult to reserve a room.

On the other hand, an earlier announcement would have made it harder for us to get our reservation that week.

Maybe they were assuming that the members already reserved for the resorts would decide to attend. However, the price is prohibitive.

I agree with Rocket -- poor planning.

I never got an invite and did not get the latest mailing about either. I would say it does not look good, it is a couple of e-nights with a dinner, and then the grand opening of SSR. I think they think they can give something a name and some of us will buy it. e-nights cost less than $15 if I remember and a dinner that they give is not going to be gormet that is for sure, so you get about $160 retail for $300, counting t;he price of the admission to the parks, they better have some very nice gifts for those that do attend. So far it has been very poor planning, I hope the actual event is better than what it looks like on paper.

i thought about it in jan. but "no" rooms were left and then i heard ms was only selling the tickets up to a certain date, i didnt want to buy tickets and then i would have to stay at an allstar, not that there is anything wrong with the allstars, but it wouldnt be the same if im going to a members homecoming and not staying in a dvc resort,
or waitlist the room and by the time if the room came thru the tickets would be gone:( no matter which way you play it out, it might be to late:(

Well..I am pretty sure I read that the number of tickets to be sold was 5000...and when I bought my tickets last month, MS told me that the cut off date was supposed to be March 1...then it was extended to be March 15th..unless they sold off earlier....and now they are extending it "officially" again...so the sales must be really disappointing....

That said..if they don't sell out, I'd expect that we get just what was mentioned and no surprises as DVC must have to pay a certain amount to WDW regardless how many tickets are sold.

lenshanem - hopefully you will get your Vacation Magic soon. We're in the same metro area (if that even matters) and I got both the Vacation Magic and the Member Homecoming invitation (ha!) in the mail yesterday.

I had to crack a smile when I saw the invitation...not only because it came so late...but that I'm not even elligible to stay at any DVC properties (home resort is SSR) til after June 7th!

As a new member @ SSR, I am also not eligible to do a DVC resort points stay until June. When several people said that there were no rooms available for the member homecoming, did they mean just DVC rooms or anywhere on site. Please advise.

They are referring to DVC rooms. I know for sure the studios are sold out. I haven't checked on the larger accomodations.

I am little confused about this thread. I just remember the event was expensive. What does it cost?
what do you receive at the homecoming??

ssREX

What do you get for $1000 for a family of four, that could be that inviting??

no dvc resort rooms, why stay at all star when its a dvc members homecoming and you cant stay at your own home resort or another dvc resort. not the same.:(

2 very good reasons:

1) For SSR owners with Use years of June or later or owners in other than the first building, we can't use points yet anywhere.

2) Other posters have already stated that there were no rooms.

Hi,

Mom recieved a mailing today. We think the prices are high for what you get really!! We will be down there but we would rather save the money & go to MVMCP in December!!!

Some DVCers who bought into SSR reported being able to talk their guide into letting them book early with their points so they can attend the homecoming. However, with no rooms left now, the point is moot.

no time limit to book, i'm still going to wait, if there would be no e nights during our stay i might commit, but so far it's kind of pricey for what's provided, may still end up doing it anyway, this trip is a graduation present for spouse, graduating from college nursing program so whatever she wants, she gets, this trip!
notice that night in mk does not state which atractions will be open, just "classic Disney attractions", whatever that is i do not know yet, however as soon as i finish on here i will be checking official dvc site for details as mailer suggests
