Another Marathon Weekend Question - from outside Disney

OK....kinda like everyone else......figured out that the great weekend trip we booked was during the marathon weekend. Anyways....it is good to know beforehand.

I have searched and found lots of posts about how to get from Disney hotel to the park of the day (hint - take bus and leave early!).

Anyways...this trip I am staying at Windsor Hills which is about 2 miles south from Animal Kingdom.

Plan for the full marathon day (Sunday) to go from Windsor Hills to Hollywood Studio's for rope drop:

Option 1 - Arrive on Disney Property near the Animal Kingdom Gates and then travel to Hollywood Studios
- this includes travelling down Oscealo Parkway to World Drive
or
- travelling down Buena Vista Drive after only a short drive on Oscealo Parkway.

I am thinking this might be best path to get to Hollywood Studios via Buena Vista Drive but I am worried about travelling back up the short path on Osceola Parkway against the marathoners and Animal Kingdom traffic.



Option 2 - Go East on 192 to World Drive and then drive to Hollywood Studios direct.
My worry about this path is that most traffic will be on this road going to the parks and will be backed up. However, it does look like a clean entrance to Hollywood Studios via the exit from World Dr.




I am hoping there are some people with experience travelling to the parks during this time or someone know exactly which roads are open or closed.

I'll be watching your thread. No one answered my marathon questions. I'm still wondering if I should change my DTD plans.

192 to World Dr. is the way to go, entering DHS thru the main toll booth directly off of World Dr. You will completely avoid the runners this way.

Osceola Pkwy. will be closed from BVD to World Dr., so that is not an option. The exit from World Dr. northbound onto BVD will probably also be closed. (BVD is cm lingo for Buena Vista Dr.)

One lane of Osceola to BVD will be available, but the runners will be coming onto BVD towards DHS as they exit World Dr., leaving just one of the 3 lanes on BVD open to traffic. In past years, congestion on BVD approaching DHS from the west was second only to that around TTC.
