We have gone to Disney using the ME many times. This is the first year that my ME info didn't come seperately from my package details, it all came in one envelope. So my question is since we don't have our magic bands and I don't see a bar code in our envelope for them to scan at the ME airport services does that mean I have to line up at the counter? Usually we skip the counter and just have them scan and they send us to proper line. Sorry if this is a repeat question I tried searching but didn't find an answer.

Thanks!

You don't have to go to a counter. Someone will be waiting at both the front & end of the line to scan your bands, just like when you have a FastPass.

You can still keep them active and get new ones. They'll all work. I always take an old magic and for scanning the ME.

Yup, absolutely correct, currently DW and I have 3 active MBs each and we take them all with us on every trip. I just wanted to add that the "touch to scan" feature of the MB does not seem to be dependent on the battery condition. Apparently, it's just the long range scanning function that needs the battery. This means that the touch feature should work indefinitely provided the MB is in good condition. Or so I have been told...YMMV.

I inactivated it because I wanted to get one of the new purple ones.

We took our old ones and got new ones. I got different colours so I could coordinate with my outfits. I wasn't sure that it would work with DME, but there was absolutely no issues. I think that we did get a booklet or something to scan but I never needed to since the bands worked just fine. BTW - we've always got the DME and other information and materials all in one package. We book through a TA so I don't know if that's different.
