Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

We have gone from being empty nesters to being a multigenerational family
Well that's quite a change, but if you can make it work it makes a lot of sense.

Enjoy your new fridge and dishwasher...it's the little things, right? ;)

In the "Keeping up with the LeeBees" department, we're getting a new washing machine:cool1:
Our machine stopped spinning at nearly the 10 year mark. Of course it's the electronics in the machine which is $500 and on back-order anywhere from 2-8 weeks. So we'll be appliance shopping over the weekend.

We have gone from being empty nesters to being a multigenerational family 5. DD, her husband, and his 5 year old son have moved in with us. We had a large living room, two bedrooms, and a full bathroom that we never use and they were paying $1200 a month plus utilities for a tiny 2 bedroom apartment. It's working out ok, for the most part, but it's taking awhile to combine two households. We are ALL tired after long days at work/school, and nobody feels like unpacking when they get home at night. My dining room looks like something exploded in it, and I feel like I am spending my entire life picking up after people, cooking, and cleaning, but I know it'll settle down within another month. I'm tired, though. I miss my space more than I thought I would, but it'll be OK. I think.

On the positive side, we FINALLY got a new fridge and dishwasher. The fridge we had was an RCA, and they haven't made refrigerators since the 19902s, I think! New stove is on order, no idea when it'll be here, but I"m happy with the fridge and dishwasher- especially the dishwasher! Also semester break starts on Friday evening. DD and I are headed to NOLA for 5 days to visit my sister and BIL, drink some fun drinks, and eat some TERRIFIC food!
Oh, I feel you. My elderly DSister was widowed quite suddenly last fall and she immediately felt the need to sell her house and relocate from our hometown. The lot fell to us and we welcomed her into our household in November. The transition has been more difficult than I ever imagined and finding just the right balance in many regards is still a work in progress. I love the way you put it - "...it'll be OK. I think." ;)

I know it's a burden or inconvenience to have to deal with family, but isn't that what makes us close? DD has a tough time but I want her to know I''ll be there for her.
:goodvibes It's not a burden - we were raised to look out for one another and there was never any question about it happening. Like @leebee though, it would be unrealistic to say it's been 100% easy.

Oh absolutely. I know that they are feeling the "closeness" as much as we are. We are still in the jumbled, confusing unpacking stage and all know that things'll work out; we just need to get there. We are happy to have them here in our big, empty house, and glad that we are able to help them stabilize financially, so they can continue to afford to save money for a downpayment on their own place someday; DD's in grad school so they are a family of 3 on a single income. We are also happy to be here to help with the 5 year old, who has ADHD and other behavioral issues. He thinks DH is the best thing since sliced bread, though, and has told me, "Lee, you're The Best!" I love that we are working through all this as a family, and being able to "tag team" caring for the little one gives DD and SIL a chance to have "couple" time together, a chance for date nights or for him to perform at open mic, etc. - they've only been married 5 months, although they've known each other well for about 8 years. (He's the one she should have married in the first place, and vice versa!) It's gonna work out.

I just realized I don't have a stitch of green on me! I shall correct that after I get cleaned up. :)

Y'all have fun today. We have two kittens and two DGDs hangin' out here today. ☘

Dh and I went to our Niagara Fallsview Casino, but don't tell Kitty 34 'cause she'll be Green with Envy!

Nah! She won't 'cause most likely she was at our favourite Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Michigan. :shamrock:

That's great, leebee.

Hi Jane! DH and I are headed to our favorite casino, Firekeepers, today. Will still be wearing my green because MSU will be playing today in March Madness!! Hopefully I might win some green, too! :teeth:

DW and I will be joining the auspicious ranks of new home appliance owners this weekend with...A New Washing Machine! :cool1: We bought our current washer/dryer set when we moved into this house 10 years ago, and right on cue, the washer gives up the ghost. I remembering when we moved my mom out of her house to assisted living, her appliances were all over 30 years old and still crankin' away.

New appliances! The dishwasher and fridge are here, the stove is on order. I like the dishwasher a lot; it's super quiet and loads easily/logically. The fridge... not so much, but it'll do. Fortunately it's pretty close to bottom of the line, so I don't feel like we took a huge shellacking, but still... This is what I get for shopping online, I guess. I wish it had one more shelf, a place to store eggs, and that the freezer had its own control. It looked like it did in the picture, but it doesn't. Ah well, it'll do, and lesson learned: Next time, I'm shopping in person!

Good luck, guys, with all the new appliances. I seem to think we must be on borrowed time with some of ours. We did just replace our furnace a few weeks ago.

Wow Jane the resort looks really nice, how'd you do at the casino??? Happy Birthday!:cake:

Thanks Micca. We brought some money home!

Best fun ever though was on Crazy Rich Asians.

The game console was near our bus pick up area to come home, and it was always unavailable while we were there during our stay. As luck would have it I was able to play. But wasn't able to get the 3 rings feature for the bonus, cashed out, and met Dh on the other side of the same game console.

He was having a great time, but decided on a restroom visit before we boarded the bus. So.. I played out the remainder on his machine. It gave me every bonus featured, and a great pay out!

My fortune cookie at lunch read: I'm a patient person, and that good things come to those who wait! :goodvibes

Kitty: We were going to book Soaring Eagle for a June bus tour, but the tour company said the Hotel's pool is not open, and they couldn't guarantee when it would be. They have been experiencing the shortage of reno construction products.. sigh.
