Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

Strolled down to the terminal, we had early boarding at 1030am. Boarding was super smooth, much easier and quicker than we had on Princess. They were also very strict with boarding times and were refusing people if they had a different time slot. Sailed through customs and all that, nothing to say here. then we went straight to the Waterfront restaurant to book an early dinner slot, apparently these go very quickly and can't be done beforehand for some unknown reason, anyway we got 6pm which was perfect. From here we split up and found our rooms, my mum and sister were on deck 6 midship. We were on 9, and the fourth cabin from the front eek. Our room was a standard quad room, there were plenty of drawers, and a reasonable amount of hanging space - light on hangers though.

From here we went and had lunch in The Pantry. P&O Oz have removed buffets and replaced them with mini food courts. I actually really like it. There was plenty of variety from Asian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Sandwich and salad bar, Indian, Fish bar, Roast bar, and Dessert bar. Some things remained the same, but a lot of things changed daily. the sandwich bar changed at night keeping the salads, removing the sandwiches and replacing them with cheeses and soup. I was quite impressed, the only negative was it closed at 9pm, and sometimes earlier. So no late night snacking unless you bought something from the grill (ugh).

I then registered all the kids into kids club and raced to the bar.

Sorry, I was thirsty.

My brother stopped over for coffee this morning and thought the morning temp was quite doable......it was 36 degrees!!!! But then three mornings ago it was 18 degrees!!. :cold:

NFLDERS......I'm not going to do the math on converting temps but lets just say cold is cold!!! :rotfl:

No math needed. Just memorize the poem:

32 in Celsius is really hot when felt,
But at 32 in Fahrenheit, your ice cubes will not melt!

21 in Celsius equals 70 Fahrenheit.
This is where we like it best, and outside feels just right.

10 degrees is 50, when the air is crisp and cool,
If you forget your sweatshirt, you might feel like a fool.

We spent the day doing the Scavenger Hunt (they had some cool prizes but we didn't win anything). Dinner was at Waterfront with the dress code being smart/casual. I forgot to take pics of most of the food until much later but the following were my faves. Some nights were a bit hit/miss but mostly adequate. Desserts were mostly a miss, I had the WORST pecan pie in the history of my eating it. Tasteless, rubbery, awful thing it was.

Roasted tomato soup - yum. I had more later on at The Pantry.

Chicken curry - although I think this was a lunch offering.

That night we went to the show which was an introduction to all the performers and acts. It was okay, and also allowed me to cross certain things off my list - the human circus show duo were good but not my thing, the rugby league - likewise (I follow Union). Then we went to bed zzzz.

Next day was a sea day.

So was most of the day after that. We were suppose to be in our first port at 3pm, but a boat had broken from its moorings so we were delayed for an hour. Anyway Noumea - capital of New Caledonia is the pits. The kids and I hiked up to a couple of churches and wandered through town but we were all glad to be back on board.

A note on visiting churches, more of a mini rant actually. I've always taken my hat off indoors and my kids know to do this as well regardless of the religion of the church. It would appear that it is something that has gone by the wayside? I noticed it in the US and Mexico last year as well. Also, there was a couple there who I thought were quite disrespectful running about up the thingy, pretending to be the pastor/priest/whoever. They were adults so really should have shown a little restraint. Surely.

36F is +2C - still above freezing and considered a "win" here at this time of year. 18F is -7C; 7 degrees below freezing, hence the "minus". Mildly chilly and almost time to put a toque on (but maybe not quite). Certainly not near cold enough to need to plug your car in. :wave2:

Gosh, where was this poem when I was teaching school? Love it!!! :thumbsup2

Hi Jane, thanks for bumping our ALDIO thread! Your DH did a nice job with the work on the habitat for the lizard. If I'm being honest, reptiles skeeve me out but I can certainly appreciate that a pet needs a suitable abode.

All other ALDIOIANS ok??? Anyone else see Coco? We liked it a lot. Taking the DGDs for a Santa pic tomorrow. Of course we've known Santa for many years and it always impresses the DGDs when he greets them by name.:santa: The last of the Thanksgiving leftovers have bitten the dust, the tree is up & decorated. No casualties while decorating this year. Last year two fragile glass ornaments sacrificed themselves on the tile under the tree.

Anyone else in ALDIO taking advantage to the 10% Target gift card deal on Sunday? We did this last year: You buy Target gift cards at 10% and use the Target cards to purchase Disney gift cards. Heck, even if you don't want the Disney cards it's still a way to save $ at Target.

Happy December everyone!:thumbsup2

Reptiles are not my thing either. Dgs's has free roaming in and outside the house when they are home. Sometimes their retriever, and lizard "run" together outside.. lol! with the dog trying not to step on the lizard!

Hello, ALDIOs! It has been too long since I've posted here.

Jane, love the home for the lizard. Great gift idea!

Micca, we saw CoCo. My husband and I loved it. Our teen daughter thought it was just okay. She wasn't super excited about seeing it with us in the first place, though, so her mind was already made up. I would be happy to watch it again, so it's probably going to be one we buy when it's released on video. We have a friend whose family celebrates dia de los muertos, so we were happy to learn more about this beautiful tradition.

I cannot believe December is here. The tree and outdoor lights are up and some of the shopping is done. Thanks for the head's up about the Target cards, Micca! Disney gift cards are on my list of things we still need to purchase. We'll take advantage of this little savings tip now that we know about it. They'll be useful during our upcoming trip.

Enjoy your visit to Santa. I miss those days! :sad1:

Our Costco is about 25 minutes away too. It's strange how that seems so inconvenient, but we're spoiled here in our little 'burb. If it's more than 5 minutes away it's like some trek into the wilderness. Most people drive that or farther to/from work everyday.:)
It's a 15min drive from our house..but it means going k-7 to k-10 to the 435/I-35 intersection and then to 95th st. At least that's the quickest way. Just don't attempt that at rush hour :faint:. On a related note we actually went to Costco today and because Aaron made me put blinders on we were in and out in like 10mins!

I'd say it's pretty industrious of you to replace your old set on the wall. I'd have probably drug out an old coffee table to set it on until we figured out what to do with the broken set. :)

Looks like I'm due for a new tv, my 10 yr. old set has a fatal issue. It functions but everything is really green:tilt:
My mom's old tv was the tube tvs that had the speakers built in and it was on a swivel--the ones that has wood and function like a piece of furniture. When that one went out (the dreaded green) she put a table cloth over it and got a new TV which was a flater screen tv but still the bulky kind. Finally she got a tv stand lol

Update: Although we are still in the warranty time frame. In the very small print the Smart TV had to have been bought in the USA. We bought it here in Canada. Probably will not matter but, DH is going to talk to the retailer tomorrow... sigh. :headache:
Aww now that's quite a fine print there. Wonder if there is still a warranty but with different terms available to you since you bought it in Canada.

Even though I didn't quote the rest I like your trip report :) Eventually Aaron and I will take a cruise together (I've been on one years ago and he's been on one years ago too).

When we had a dole whip float in September we drank it all before I remembered I wanted to get a photo of it for my trip report haha..several days later we got another dole whip float and I made sure we waited to get pics first before devouring it.

Sorry guys...not sure how to crop or change pic sizes. This is me and my grandson Will in the jumper and Vivian on the floor.

How's everyone doing? This thread hasn't been around in awhile but I think of all of you and see many of you (and like of course many of you) on other threads!! :teeth:
