Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Well the portfolio print out helped jog my memory. I had the drink package but lots of $1 tips to track my more like wandering than hopping:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Leaving a paper trail is a risky proposition ;) Sounds like it was worth it though. :)
 Haha, sometimes the "documentation" is the oinly way you can remember it happened! Two years ago I went on a brief Pacific Costal cruise with a collegue. I'm not typically much of a drinker but since a beverage package was included and I wasn't driving :p I decided to experiment. I drank from morning to night; mimosa for breakfast, liquore and coffee before bed and everything else I could get my hands on in between. I literally drank as much as I could stomach and felt like the entire cruise was a blur! When my portfolio came on the last day (NCL tracks the drinks Individually) I counted and found I had consumed all of 14 drinks in 3 days :o. And thus ended my short stint as a party-girl!

News on our Passports; unfortunately not good. :( They apparently were not picked up as scheduled in Monaco. They inform us it's possible they will not arrive in Barcelona in time for our noon flight on Monday and we won't "know until we know". Anybody have any idea how we should approach this with the airline?

I have no expertise but I'd get on the phone with the airline as soon as you can and explain everything. There must be a procedure for dealing with this, I'm sure it happens all the time. You'll likely be required to show up at the airport extra early. Look on the bright side, the airport surely has a bar!:sunny:

We will co fact them as soon as we get to Barcelona tomorrow. Ship to shore calling is $7.99/minute and I'm sure it will take some time to sort out. We're freaking out a little - searches for one way tickets from Barcelona to Calgary on May 22 are showing up at over $4,000/pp :scared1:

WOW! And I thought I had some major issues when I flew American Airlines to Oklahoma last summer!!! Good luck to you!!

And I thought my screw up this trip was expensive. Now I am thankful it only cost us $832. I hope they show up on time.

JetBlue was good to us, they waived fees but we had to pay the difference on the flight. Expensive lesson. I booked our flights for Saturday May 13 only trouble we didn't comeback til the 14th DOH!!!!!

Hey join the I lost the passports party. I lost ours enroute to our last cruise. I am now no longer allowed to hold onto any important papers. Lost our WS tickets once too. They were found in a bag at the bottom of the rubbish barrel in our room.

In keeping with my mantra here; We "Almost" lost ours but, if not for another passenger noticing that my husband had dropped them on the floor while we waited in line to go through a security check! He does not wish to carry them now, OK by ME!

I've tried to cancel in edit the last post I made without success. Sorry, for the inconvenience of a large spacing before my quote & reply which was shown in the expand box as well!

Sorry to read this, I'm keeping fingers, and toes crossed for you. pixiedust:

I've looked around a little more and we can actually get return tickets for less than $1,000/pp. Still a very hard pill to swallow, but we wouldn't have to cash in an RSP to pay it...:p
Hopefully you could recover some of the cost of your original fare home?

And it's another (not so) lovely day in...Barcelona :sad1: . Our saga continues. The cruise line Port Agent made a horrific mess. When the Passports were not picked up by diplomatic courier last Thursday he put them in the MAIL!! :scared1: They were not in Barcelona for our Sunday flights and we re-booked for Wednesday (cost about $1,300 CAD for both of us), thinking that would give us a buffer. Well, they did not arrive Monday either and according to the tracking number - praise God they registered the package - it is in Paris as of this morning. No estimate on how long final transit and delivery will take and the cherry on top is that according to the on-line tracking tool, two letters in the address have been transposed. It's not a huge error but will it be enough to send the envelope to Timbuktu?? :scared:

Here's my dilemma, ALDIO pals - help me out. We can hold on and hope the package comes today and we can make our morning flight home tomorrow. Or we can present at the Canadian Consulate today and have them issue new papers which will take 2 days and necessitate cancelling and repurchasing our flights a second time. WWYD?!? :hyper2:

On a happier note - here I am on my way to summit Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii; a fascination of mine since childhood. I made it!!

My feeling is that it'd be best to avoid cancelling and repurchasing your air fare. Based on that I'd wait to see if the package arrives today. It also occurs to me that it might be a good idea to put the process in motion to have new papers issued. If the package en route from Paris gets hopelessly lost at least you have the process of new papers going for you. Caveat: Scratch that last sentence in the event that filing for new papers voids the package coming in the mail.

Good grief what a predicament! I hope you don't have anything that necessitates your scheduled return home (other than it costs an arm & a leg to extend vacation days.) At least you're in a place where there's a lot of things to see & do while you're killing time to get this all sorted out. Good luck with everything.:)

Ronanddannette:. ^This would be my WWID. So very sorry this happened. Great that you got to do Mt. Vesuvius!

HUZZAH!! The package arrived at the hotel this evening and we will make our flight home tomorrow morning. I am SO glad! We had decided that we would simply have to go to the Consulate tomorrow morning if they didn't arrive today but as mentioned, the minute we applied for new Passports the old ones would be cancelled and useless even if they arrived. With transit back and forth to Madrid (where the Canadian Embassy is) we may have been stuck here through the weekend. Super-glad it didn't come to that. :cheer2:

Thanks for keeping me company everybody - wish you were here! (P.S. Paris Disneyland sucked. :sad1: )

RonandAnnette, sorry you're still having issues but glad you could go to Pompeii. I always had a fascination with that place since the infamous volcano and all the "pics" of it when I learned about it in school years ago.

My oldest DS didn't like Paris Disneyland either.
