Another Laptop Question

I am planning to take my laptop during my trip in a couple weeks. I am staying at OKW for a week (rented points) and then AKL for 4 nights. I know I will not have daily maid service at OKW but will when I move to AKL. Do most people lock up their laptops when they are not in their rooms? I have left other things out, but do tend to lock up my non-park purse in the safe, and am worried that my laptop will not fit. So what is everyone's opinion? Thanks!

Leave it in the room, if you can afford its loss but otherwise valuables may also be stored in safekeeping boxes available at the Front Desk...there could be a charge for these since they do provide the room safe.

If someone wants your laptop a small lock and wire attached to furniture will provide a few second delay before it is history.

i have taken my laptop the last 2 years and each time i didnt even bother to hide it in the room or lock it up. i honestly didnt worry about it being stolen. one day i left my laptop, digital and video camera on a table in our rfoom and it was never touched. mousekeeping i guess felt that it was better to not clean the table off then touch our equipment. honestly there was so much stuff on the table that there wasnt anyplace available for and dirt to accumulate.

if you dont want to lock it up you could put it in an empty suitcase and place another one on top of it. or as sokeone preiously said ask the front desk to lock it up for you.

maybe i am a bit nieve but i refuse to worry about having anything stolen from our room on our WDW vacation. too busy havin fun

We left our in a backpack on the table and it was fine. DH did lock up smaller valuables in the safe.

We usually just place it out of sight. Probably doesn't make that much difference but makes me feel better...

I just set my laptop up and leave it. I stay at the S/D and never had a problem.

You shouldn't be leaving the laptop out when you aren't in the room. Every now and then there are reports here of thefts in their hotel room. In other hotels laptops get stolen quite often. If you can afford to lose the laptop or the information on it then leave it out, you should make an effort to hide the laptop or secure it.

I bring my laptop every time and leave it plugged in on the table in the room. I've never had a problem.

I just spent 4 weeks in WDW with my laptop (and a week in Disneyland prior to that). I stayed at the Pop Century, All-Stars Music, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness Cabins, Saratoga Springs Resort, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I own a laptop cable lock (a combination one) and used it in each of the resorts that I stayed in. My concern was not about Housekeeping but rather about the scam artists that can talk their way into anyone's room. If someone was going to sweet-talk their way into my room, I wasn't going to make it easy for them to five-finger my laptop out of there.

I should also note that with so much resort-hopping going on, there were times when my resort room wasn't ready upon check-in. During those times I checked my laptop with the Bell Services folks and asked them to make sure that it was locked up in a secure place. They assured me that it would be, and it was, because nothing disappeared from my laptop case (amongst other things, I had an 80 Gig external hard-drive in there that could have very easily disappeared).

I am glad that I brought my laptop with me on my WDW vacation. That was the first time that I ever did that, but since it was an extensive trip with just me and my children, I promised my husband that I would send him photos & videos of our antics. Having my laptop with me was the only way that I could do that.
