Hello all. I am wondering about the departure day trip to Animal Kingdom that so may have written about. Does this count as a day on your park hopper pass or do you have to pay seperate to get in? You are only there for about 2 hours before leaving for the port right? Any experience? Thanks!:earsgirl:

If you are doing the land/sea booked together through Disney, then the tickets you get are ultimate park hoppers which are good from the day you check in til midnight on the day you check out. Therefore, your admission to AK on the day of the cruise is included. If you are booking separately and using your own park hoppers which never expire, then yes, your morning at AK will cost you a day on your hopper.

The answer above from NCRedding is correct, I just wanted to add that the time you have to spend in the AK depends on how early you get to the park that morning. We arrived at the park at 8:45 a.m. and after checking in with the cruise reps we had until 12:15 p.m. to enjoy the park (or about 3 1/2 hrs.) It's amazing how much you can see and do in that amount of time, plus they give you a ticket for reserved seating at your choice of 2 shows. And the park is rather uncrowded that early in the morning, so the lines are very minimal.

You are aware that you do not need to be at your resort room when they come to collect your luggage to haul over to the port, correct? We were so wide awake and extremely excited about the cruise that morning, that we went to breakfast at the resort and headed out for the AK by 8:00 a.m. It was a great way to pass the time until we left for the port.

Hope this helps!!:wave2:

I totally agree with EmmasGrammy ::yes::

We did the land/sea in May and found it to be perfect! Earlier in the week we hit all the other parks and MK actually twice...saving AK until the day we were departing for the cruise. This was perfect for us as we were first timers to WDW and the cruise. I will say that in the 3 1/2 or so hours that we were at AK - we basically did all that we wanted to do. This is not a park we would have spent a great deal of time in really. I will add that next year we are again doing the land/sea but will most likely opt to leave from the resort to head to the ship a bit earlier. The first day onbaord seemed really rushed to us with all that is going on and getting aquainted ;)

Have a wonderful time!! We can't wait to do it all over again.
:teeth:

We also went to AK for a few hours before getting on the DCL bus. Your main luggage is already gone by the time you go to the park. They have a special place for cruisers to check in and leave their day bags. That way they know you are there and also you don't have to carry your bags around. We had done AK earlier in the week so just re-did our favorite attractions. I highly recommend going this route.
