Another Kohl's return question

I didn't want to jump onto the 4 year old bra return post.
I bought a Hoover vacuum cleaner less than 6 months ago. I thought it was doing a good job, it picked up big pieces of dust and stuff and the carpets looked clean but I wrong.
Two days ago I vacuumed my bedroom rug really well because I was going to shampoo it.
When I shampooed and emptied the water there was so much dirt and sand mixed in with the water I couldn't believe it. It looked like I had never vacuumed before shampooing the rug.
I didn't keep the box that the vacuum came in. I also don't have the receipt but I did use my Kohl's charge.
Has anyone returned anything large like a vacuum without the box it came in?

I don't think any vacuum picks up every bit of dirt/sand. If you think the vacuum is not performing properly, I'd contact the manufacturer. Most appliances have a 1-year warranty, so if you bought it less than 6 months ago it should still be under warranty.
