Another Kindle Fire question

I have a Kindle Fire ordered for DS for Christmas! So excited!
I do have a question though.. Amazon has a 30 day return policy from the day you receive it. Since that will be expired before Christmas, will they take it back after that?

They have a holiday gift return policy in affect that allows you to return items purchased and delivered in Nov until Jan 31 (awesome!), however it then states "subject to our other return policies"
The other return policies state for Kindle returns 30 days and for gift returns 30 days??

I did speak to customer service and the first guy I spoke to, said 30 days, but seemed unsure, so I then spoke to a supervisor who said holiday policy.

I sent an email and asked for clarification and this is the response I got:

I would like to inform you that our holiday return policy is applied to ever items which is sold and ship by Amazon.com.

I've checked your Order # for the Kindle Fire and see that this order was placed on November 14, 2011.

I can confirm and assure you that your Order # is under the holiday return policy.

We'll accept returns of items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011 until January 31, 2012 for a full refund, subject to our other returns policies here:

You can return any Kindle you purchased directly from Amazon.com for a full refund within 30 days of the day you received it as long as it is in new condition and in accordance with our return policy. Your Kindle is not eligible for return and refund after the 30-day return period has expired.

Omg, I'm not trying to be dumb, but just so confused.. :confused3

I'll ask DH later, but for now, I think your rep was just trying to be extra helpful. But didn't think.

The wording on the Returns pages is:

Does Amazon.com have an extended return policy for the holidays?

Yes. Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011, may be returned until January 31, 2012, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed in our Product Return Policies Help pages.

And "Product Return Policies" is a link. That link shows all of the policies. So if I am returning a camera, I know I need to have original packaging. If I'm returning software, I know it needs to be new and UNOPENED (for a simple return...if it's defective that's a different sort of return).

I would think that since the Kindle page talks about how many days, but that's covered in the holiday return policy, that the holiday policy trumps it.

Silly rep, confusing you like that. I'm sure they have good numbers, but I bet there are a lot of followups to their answers! (can you tell I was a CS rep there? one that had lower numbers but almost no followup questions because I actually thought about what I was trying to say?)

But I'll ask hubby. He should be able to find out.

Good question! I'm trying to decide if I should send the two Fire's I bought back or not. I might decide soon, or I may decide to give them for Christmas and let them decide if they make the cut or not. It would be nice if I know that I can send them back later.

Hubby, who works in the Kindle department but not in Customer Service (but has contacts in Kindle CS) says that the Holiday policy applies. (follow the other stuff on the Kindle return page...I only skimmed, but I think it had info on HOW to return it, etc)

I appreciate the rep's efforts at combining the "blurbs" (pre-written paragraphs you can choose from), not everyone does that, BUT s/he obviously had not fully read the Kindle page.

Thanks so much Bumbershoot! I was trying to make sure I got one before Christmas (thinking they might end up being sold out) but then when the 30 day return came up, I was concerned. Thanks again, you're the best!
