We are sailing on the Magic next Saturday and I have a question about the clubs. My daughter is 9 and my son is 6 1/2. My question is that my son will feel more comfortable being with his sister so do you know if he can go in the 8- 9 year old group. or can my daughter go in the 5-7 group. Anybody?

from what I have read, they encourage you to place the kids in the correct group to see how that goes before moving them around. I think they usually find that it works out fine. If you find that it is not, you can talk to the CMs and ask for one of them to be moved, I think they usually move the older one down. Just know that once you make a move, they usually request that you stick to it as they don't want kids moving in and out of age groups for safety reasons. Make sure you let the CMs know of your concerns in the beginning and they will do what they can to make them comfortable in their groups. So I guess the answer is yes, but wait and see before moving them around. HTH

I would also encourage you to talk to the counselors and try your kids out in the appropriate age groups. The CMs have LOTS of experience helping kids fit in with the group and do a great job of it. Also the activities in the various groups are age appropriate so the activities in the 5-7 might not be as interesting to your 9 yo.

Also check out the Navigators for the FAMILY activities for them to participate in together with you.

They usually let kids move when their birthdays are close - but 9 to 7 is a big jump and 6 to 8 not any better. They might let you do it (depending on the distribution of kids and the maturity of yours) but I'd be doubtful.
