ANOTHER iPhone Question...*UPDATE* Got one...more ???

Well, I did it...I bought the 16GB 4S tonight, since the sale ends tomorrow. DH even decided to get one too! We spent more money on the cases than we did on the phones:sad:, but we knew we'd need good cases. He got an Otterbox Defender (because it includes a belt clip) and I went for the Lifeproof case. I'll get a clip later, but I couldn't stomach $100 all at once for a case and clip:crazy2:. I usually have my phone in my purse or pocket anyways.

I was able to put all of my contacts, all of my songs, all of my apps (plus a few new ones!) and all 4 POTC movies onto the phone and it still shows that I have 4GB remaining:cool1:.

The next plan is to get the AppleCare for both of them. If I understand correctly, I need to take the phones to the Apple Store and buy the plan. It is about $100 for each phone and covers them from damage/defect for 2 years. You only get 2 claims on each plan and then you will need to repurchase the plan if you want to continue the coverage. Sound right so far? The salesman at Best Buy said that I should not tell the folks at the Apple Store where I got the phones (just say they were a Christmas present) because "they get a little hinky" with phones that are bought somewhere else. What's up with this? Can someone enlighten me on what I am "entitled" to? (I mean that as "what am I completely within my rights to purchase?")

Never heard that you can repurchase, but I an attest that they replaced hubby's phone when the battery quit holding a good charge. $600 hold on a CC until we returned the defective one but very prompt service.

Nobody at the Apple Store cares where you got your phone, they're just glad to get an AppleCare sale. :)

The two claims limit is only for accidental and water damage. If they have to replace your phone due to things like battery defects, unresolved software issues, etc, those things do not count towards the limit.

Also, you can't repurchase the plan to renew it. No serial number sold more than 30 days ago can be enrolled in AppleCare+. It's two years and that's it.

Thanks for the info. I bought the Lifeproof case for my phone because I work outdoors a lot and I am terrified of breaking the phone. I've also had crappy luck with batteries going bad, screens not working and other technical difficulties. The salesman at BB made AppleCare sound like you get two replacement/repair claims and that's it. If that happens within a year, then you have to pay another $100 to continue the plan for the rest of the initial 2-yr period. You're explanation makes more sense:thumbsup2.

A battery question...how low should I let it go before charging it? My iPod always alerts me when there is 20% remaining. This seems like a lot of residual charge, but I don't really know how long that 20% will last on the iPhone. If I let it get down to 20% and use it only for phone calls and text messages, how long will it go before it is entirely unusable? Here's what happens a lot at work...I'll be at work (in the ambulance) for 2-3 hours before my phone will start showing low battery. I plug it in to the car charger and leave it plugged in until I go on a call. Then, I unplug it and bring it with me until the call is complete which is anywhere from 15-60 minutes. Once I am back in the ambulance, I plug it back in. Then the cycle repeats until the phone shows fully charged. Unfortunately, my battery started going from 50% to dead (shut itself off without warning, dead) within a matter of minutes if I tried to make a call. This caused a serious problem....I can't be on the phone with a hospital and have my battery go dead:crazy2:. What is the best way to prevent this with my new iPhone?

Sorry for the rambling....I really appreciate all the great insight:worship:.
