Have any of you been on Mission Space and had a panic attack (or near) but did well in an inside stateroom on a classic ship? We went to WDW this summer and I rode Mission Space from the green line. It was THE worst experience ever. I get claustrophobic (used to have recurring dreams of being trapped too) but am fine in elevators, etc. Even with the warnings I thought it would be fine. The worst 3-5 minutes of my life. Anyway, I've booked an inside on the Magic and feel it should be ok. But will it be? The room is not a closet. It will have plenty of space for me and my son. I only feel sea sick in the forward part of the ship. I'm not an out and about person but with an inside I doubt I'll spend a ton of time in the room. So what do you all think? Should be fine, right?

Thanks for the help. :)

Gotta say that I've only done Mission Space once and never again! I was in an inside last year on the Magic and never encountered any problems.

That's why I don't do inside state rooms. I am sure it would be ok, but I don't want to risk it.

I don't think you'll have a problem if you're mid ship decks 5 - 7.
I had a friend go with me, stayed in an inside stateroom deck 2 aft. She didn't handle it well. We visited a couple other friends with same stateroom on higher deck mid ship and during a storm, she was drinking and she did well.

I'm sure you will be fine. Why would you want to stay in your room when there is so much to enjoy on deck? The thought of fresh ocean air, beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Just being able to relax..... Enjoy your cruise. Don't worry, you will have plenty of room.

How many people in your stateroom?

My husband is sort of a big guy and sometimes I have to send him out with my DD when I'm packing/cleaning/getting ready so that I don't feel crowded. (They usually go out and have fun taking pictures.) I think you might feel crowded if you don't like small spaces.

Personally I think the Magic is OK. On the Dream the inside rooms are just tiny and I wouldn't do it again.

There's 2 of us. Me and my son who will be almost 8 at the time.

This is a holiday cruise and after thinking about it I realized I probably will hardly be in the room. There's going to be too much to do! :)

Why does a higher floor help you think?

I had a mini panic attack on Mission Space (Green) and have never done it again.

I had an inside room on my RCCL Alaskan last year (I was solo) and never felt closed in.

I did however sleep in late everyday because there was no natural light to wake me up. I started setting my alarm for 7:30am so I didn't sleep in until 9:00am :rotfl2:

Not to my knowledge. LOL You feel more motion the lower you go.
Avoid staterm opposite funnel intake, over propeller shaft, extreme bow or stern.
Also avoid under disco bar. Naturally you wouldn't want noise if you go to sleep early. ::yes::

Enjoy your cruise. Looks like I'll be staying in the little bitty rm on the Dream. From what I understand it may be smaller than an inside staterm on the Wonder. :confused3

Thanks! We are on the 6th floor close to mid ship. Feeling good about it! :)

I am MAJORLY claustrophobic....so bad that I even dream that I am in the back seat of a 2 door car and wake up short of breath. I've stayed in 2 inside cabins and never once had an issue. Claustrophobia panic sets in when you have no control of getting out by yourself, and in an inside cabin, YOU are in control of the door. You can come and go as you please, so you shouldn't have an issue at all.

Yep! That's me! Major panic attack on Mission:Space. I do not get into elevators unless it's the only option and I have to be somewhere. But, I LOVE inside staterooms!

Thank you both!!!! Feeling so much better about this! I was also thinking if we are just sitting in the room relaxing, watching TV, etc, I can prop the door open sometimes. I won't care about people waking by. Anyone done that?

I also cannot sit in the back of a 2 seater. That's one of the worst feelings.

You probably could, but I bet you don't have too. I was really worried about an inside cabin and it really didn't bother me at all. Like I said before, you are the one in control of the door so you should be fine with it closed knowing that you can get out if you want.

I totally agree with this. In fact, the configuration of some of the inside staterooms make them appear to be even more roomy (the cabins where the bed is facing the doorway rather than the side wall). What category are you in?

We had a deluxe inside stateroom on deck 7 for 14 nights. There were 4 of us (no small children). We thought it would be cramped and uncomfortable, but it was quite nice and we were glad we did not waste money on a room with a balcony. To me it kinda just felt like being in a store without windows. Not as weird as you would think.

Cat 11B. Not sideways. I think those were either forward or not available. Can't do forward because I tend to feel sea sick forward.

I have never been on the ride you had trouble with, but I do have claustrophobia. Wow, it's even hard to write that. :worried: I've been huge assembly halls and had meltdowns because it's not the size of the space, but the feeling of entrapment. That being said, we stayed on an inside stateroom (sideways 11) and were fine. I hope you have a wonderful cruise and enjoy yourself! :cloud9:
