What if there was just one parent who also had a toddler who wandered off and he/she quickly went off after them. Things can happen in the blink of an eye. Yes, I watch my children like a hawk, but anyone can let their guard down for a few minutes and that is when something can happen. I'm sure the parents were thankful their child is ok and very angry at themselves for not watching. No one here is perfect, hopefully for most of us nothing happens to us or our family in times when we are less than perfect.

Ahh... Disney does have lifeguards (lots of them). They are at every resort. However the pools have posted opening and closing times. Outside that window there is no lifeguard on duty. The boy was obviously in the pool while it was closed. Which leads me to again ask where were his parents.shelby_36 said:Its amazing to me that these places don't have lifeguards. Hotels, cruise ships etc. You would think for liability reasons they would... Thank God that guy was there and that he knew CPR..sounds like the kid was in bad shape when he pulled him out. Wonder where the parents were?

I am not totally disagreeing with you- but I will say in the time it takes for say a 4 year old to get out of the water to go running after your 2 year old- your 2 year old is outta there. It's actually a horrible thing what almost happened to that poor little boy- but again- it is physically impossible to watch more than 1 child every second of every minute. Now is everyone else responsible for your kid? Definetly not- but I would be pretty sure that when things happen to kids it isn't because of outright neglect. Give those poor parents a break- thank God that that wonderful person pulled that kid out- I am sure they won't let that child out of their sight in the future!

The 10 year old left him alone and when he came back the child was face down in the water. I don't think any of the kiddie pools have a lifeguard . I'm not sure at the GF if the kiddie pool is next to the larger pool or not, so I can't say if the lifeguard was even able to see him. Thank god the brother found him and someone was able to revive him in time.
We wouldn't flame the parents if that were the case. However according to the reports they were not there and left the boy to be watched by his 10 year old brother. In my eyes even letting your 10 year old in a pool by himself IS bad parenting.dwmlaf said:Please don't "Flame" the parents. I gave CPR to a toddler once who drowned in the pool. The parents were there, they just got so hysterical that they couldn't think and the father trained people how to do CPR in his spare time.
You never know how you are going to react in that type of situation when it involves your own family member. I feel everyone should learn CPR.
