1) I have read the others, and am aware it is a matter of opinion, however I have called around and found a few with rooms for the 13-16 when we will be there but they seem to run 130-150 as ENT rate, does that seem right? Does HOJO have breakfast? We are just DH, myself, and DS (3) on our first 3 nights, n the 4th night my parents will replace DH--- dad will just have completed radiation treatments at Loma Linda so we can celebrate. We are on a TIGHT budget. Thanks

2) We will be in Surprise AZ. we plan to do grand canyon overnight 1 night so we can see sunrise/set, about how long a drive to Calif from there? Will we need to spend the night on the way? any ideas for where? Thanks!

Only Hojo Anaheim has the spectacular Entertainment Rate, and the dates it's available are continually updated here.

Other hotels have Entertainment Card rates, but none equal what HoJo Anaheim can do.

HoJo does NOT have breakfast, but they are across the street from Mimi's, and down the street from Millie's, both of which are liked by Dis'ers.

I'm not sure what gate of Grand Canyon you are planning on entering, but Yahoo maps puts Anaheim, Ca to Grand Canyon Village at 486 miles and 7 hours 13 min. I find that time is probably shorter than actual. If you are entering the South gate at the Village, you will be heading north from Williams. There are a few hotels/motels there, but nothing fancy. This time of year is crowded at the Grand Canyon; especially going in the south gate. We prefer the east gate, but you would have to through Flagstaff to get there. If I can help you with any specific Grand Canyon questions, feel free to PM me.

HOJO ent rate is $59 - $99 depending on the room type. It doesn't seem to be coming up online. Make sure you talk to inhouse reservations not the 1-800 number. They do not have breakfast but each room has a very small fridge so you can purchase soem breakfast stuff to have in the room - and now they will have awseome coffee makers!

13-16 of what month? HoJo currently has the Ent Rate on the 13th of July....

July, and I asked them and they said 135 as the daily rate! Do you get it for just the 1 night or does it start on that night? Hm... maybe I better call back!

If the ENT rate is $150 at Hojo, I'd price the Candy Cane Inn (& possibly the Fairfield). For your group the CCI might be a better fit:

- A 3 y/o will be happy with either pool. (whereas a 5-10 y/o would get value from Hojo's pool.)
- The dedicated shuttle is great for mid day breaks, 3 year olds, 3 year old's parents, grandparents & anyone staying in July.
- A nice free breakfast.

If HOJO was $70 & the CCI was $130, i'd go with Hojo. But if Hojo was $130 & the CCI was $140 (or $150, or $160), i'd go with the CCI (fwiw).

So far only the 13th has the Ent rate available, you do have to call them directly. Also, mention you are a member of the Disboards or an Ent card holder and they will give you a 15% discount off the rack rate. We are there 8-12th, so far I've got the 8th & 9th at the $59 rate, the rest of nights have the 15% discount applied, but I'll need to update that if they don't release any more Ent rates for my other 2 nights, as an AP holder I actually get a 20% discount. :)

I would call back and make sure you are speaking with in house reservations. I have called before and asked for in house and still have gotten transferred to the general number.
