I'm kind of overwhelmed with all the HHN posts, probably because I'm not as young as I used to be.
We are planning to buy a two-park pass from AAA, and then, if I understand correctly, to do HHN, we should buy a Stay and Scream pass? And then if we want to not wait in line, we should buy an Express pass in addition to that? Can I buy the Stay and Scream and Express when we get down there?
Thank you in advance to all you smart people out there.

No problem...we love talking about HHN. ;)

If you have your park tickets, you can purchase the discounted HHN tickets for that night (Stay & Scream upgrade) and stay in the park after it closes. You should be able to purchase the S & S ticket online...if you wanted or you can wait until you arrive...which ever is easier for you. You would then need to purchase the Express Pass separately. Express Passes are highly recommended since the lines can grow to more than 2 hours in some cases but the down side is they are expensive depending on which night you're going. I won't purchase the EP ahead of time again after last year. I spent $79.99 for the EP on opening night and then they were selling EP's in the S & S area for $20.00 with the lanyard...I was NOT happy. That's just a personal choice but you can buy them ahead of time if you want.

The AAA ticket gets you into the park. Once you are in the park you can "upgrade" your day ticket to include HHN. Because you are already in the park you aren't forced to leave then come back in again for HHN, but since they do have to get the park ready for HHN they move you to a holding area while they prepare. That is the Stay and Scream part.

Just being in the park while everyone else is lining up at the gates gives you a big advantage when it comes to being first in line when the haunted houses open. That advantage will get you 3 or 4 easy walkthroughs before any kind of a crowd builds up. But if you don't like crowds or lines the Express Pass will get you to the front. BUT, you only get 1 free pass per house, it isn't like the hotel guests who can go to the front of the line all day whenever they want (those hotel passes are no good for HHN). With that in mind, if you do get an express pass don't be in a rush to use it. Wait in line with everyone else while they crowds are light then start using it later on when the crowds get heavy. If I had a dime for every time I've seen a family use their express passes to get to the front of a nonexistent line I could buy my own express pass :-)
