Another Golf Cart Accident

My Dad was big on rules. I remember once as a teen going into my it's not my fault spiel. Dad simply waited til I finished and queitly said " So let me rephrase what your saying, somebody peed in your pants and your wondering who to blame. Well let me solve the mystery, it was an inside job!".
I never forgot it. :thumbsup2

Running into 'special people' happens to me daily. My youngest goes to a magnet school, and since the bus service doesnt work for us, I drive her in and pick her up every day. We arent alone.

And every day I see these 'special people' who cant be bothered to wait patiently in line as designed by the school, but will go out of their way to interfere with the traffic pattern, making the line slower and and the whole situation less safe due to kids entering/exiting the property from every conceivable angle.

I have submitted an idea to the powers that be to dock these children's grades in a meaningful manner after 1 warning. i have to wonder if these same 'special people's kids' are any more likely to be trouble, what with their being raised to think they are above the rules.

I'm sure the idea will fly like a lead balloon.

Their lives are SOOOO much more important than yours, I cant believe you dont know that.

Seriously, same thing at the schools here, they come up with a safe plan and a dozen self absorbed idiots create a mess.

When we were there I didn't let DH drive the cart. The driving age said 18 and I was sticking with the rules. He is about 10 sometimes I think.

Total sarcasim here...:confused3

maybe parents aren't sure what age an "adult" is due to the fact Disney considers an "Adult" ticket and dining meal 10 & up...:rolleyes1

:eek:Could this be why children are driving golf carts?:scared1:

Silly Curt. That would make too much sense and taking responsibility for ones own stupidity. That is sooooo yesterday!!

What happened to teaching our kids right from wrong? What happened to teaching them that their actions have consequences whether they are positive or negative? I tell my kids that they make choices all the time and every choice has a consequence. Before they make that choice they need to know they can handle the consequence.

Parents are teaching their kids the opposite. My dd13 got her cell phone taken away at school for texting in class. I was in the office and the VP started to go into the spiel. My dd says "I was texting my mom". The VP and I both cut her off and said "it doesn't matter, you were texting". The VP was shocked that I was backing her up. She was ready to argue with me as to why they had to keep her phone for 5 days. Apparently parents come in demanding the phone back.

I have told my kids that I will NOT bail them out if they get into trouble. If they are innocent I will defend them to the death. If they are guilty, I will be there for them, but they will face the consequences. It does your child a disservice to bail them out. They learn that they can get away with anything. That the rules don't apply to them. Then they grow up and you can't bail them out anymore.

Allowing your kids to break the rules WITH your consent sets a VERY bad example. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!

And to you Disney suits. If you took the golf carts away every time someone was caught breaking the rules, refused to refund the remainder of their money, and then rerented it for the same time period, well.. that would be a win win situation. Safer FW and more money for you. :cutie: Even writing tickets with hefty fines that are tagged onto your resort bill. Hmmm!!! I see dollar signs guys and possibly less chance of lawsuits. :teacher: Just thinking out loud here.

Very well said. :thumbsup2
I don't believe that everything can be blamed entirely on Disney. I believe parents are just as guilty, a lot of them just don't care especially when they are camping, they just let them do whatever.
I also believe Disney has gotten very relaxed on their policies, they need to get back to the way they were and enforce them. Considering how many times you see the sheriffs dept. there you think they would. You never use to see them around and there weren't near the problems because Disney kept a handle on everything.
I believe in having fun, but I also believe you have to have condiseration for other people.
Someone needs to do something and get that place back under control.

Yep! I saw the little girl giving the infant a ride in the ECV yesterday morning & it also made my stomach do a flip. I guess some parents think that as long as their kids aren't bothering them, it doesn't matter what they do. I think the government's future health plan should include testing people for intelligence levels when they reach puberty. If they don't score high enough, sterilize them.

God I hope we don't have a gubbament health plan or NONE of us will be able to afford to RV at all.

I think Disney's main concern is not wanting to tick off the paying guests. The consequences of parents not being parents and Disney taking a laid back stance on enforcing rules can have the grim results that we've heard about these past few days. Reality is that until it hurts Disney in the pocketbook (BIG TIME)..they are NOT going to enforce the so called "rules". :rolleyes1 They figure the renter signed the paper, acknowledging the rules and any dangers involved. They have removed themselves from any liability in that regard. (or so they hope..guess that remains to be seen).

You're so right, Phyllis. I was speaking with our loop attendant on Thursday morning and she told me that if they see a guest acting inappropriately or "breaking the rules" they are to radio a management person. Supposedly the management person will come as soon as they can (like never) and address the situation. To me, that's like punishing an animal for peeing on the carpet 6 hours earlier and not addressing it as it happens. Only certain levels of CM are allowed to confront guests.

Come on Disney....e-mail me my survey!!! I can't wait!!

actually, on the spiel for renting out disney carts, it says that disney has to right to re-possess the cart without refund if ANY of the rules are broken.

Haven't you heard about the new "Recreation Reform" bill that is in committee right now??? Everyone gets 10 weeks of vacation and $5000 to spend for vacation purposes each year!!! They are going to call it "Cash for Campers"!!
:lmao:

NUTS!!! And here my camper (small and affordable) is paid for and I've worked my way up to 38 days of PTO a year.

Both GC accidents involve male drivers. Maybe we should ban them. I'm just saying.

That is why I mentioned it. It is already in the paperwork, just do it and double the money.

I totally agree!!!

CMs do not inforce rules. They are so worried that they will offend someone that they will walk right past rule breakers. How many times have you seen a CM walk RIGHT past someone with a lit cigarette in the parks? I have never once seen them confront anyone.

Disney DOES ENFORCE RULES in some situations. During the last visit 2 weeks ago while tossing the trash in a trash can, a WDW pickup stopped in front of our site and a guy hopped out. He said "I need you to do me a big favor, you need to park your vehicle in the middle of the pavement and not on the grass." "We just planted it a few weeks ago." I said "Sure no problem consider it done." He jumped back in the truck and drove off. I'm thinking on the grass, I'm not on the grass. When I walked around to the side of my RAV4, yep, I was on the grass by 2 inches!!!!!!! I'm not kidding., 2 freaking inches. How the heck did he even see that.
As if on cue, a kid went flying by in a golf cart that looked about 10 with 3 other kids none over 10. I watched as they caught up to the pickup truck and tailgated the guy.

:confused3 I guess the grass is more important than humans.:confused3

Oh and by the way, I moved that bad old vehicle of my over 2 and half inches.
Go figure.

I wonder what they are going to do the next time they stick me on a site thats too small for my rig and the only place I can park is on the grass ?

We have had that happen twice (I know, learn the first time!). The first time we didn't realize we were on the grass and immediately moved the car when asked. The second time we had a spot that was too small for our needs and were asked to move. We tried to show them that we could not move but they were very rude about it and told us we could go to the overflow lot. Not going to happen when they didn't meet our needs by giving us a spot big enough for the information we provided. The kicker was that we asked them why we were being hassled about being on the grass when there were about 6 or 8 sites in our loop that had more than 1 car at their site and they said that wasn't their concern.
As for the CMs being able to enforce the rules. It seems like it depends if they want to be bothered. A few trips ago our neighbors left their little dog chained up outside all night, every night to bark. I finally had enough and called them because it was bothering us and against the rules. They never came to talk with them or take care of the problem. But, out of 40+ trips, I guess that 3 bad experiences are a blessing. Now lets solve this golf cart problem.
