I purchased gift cards today to apply to my reservation. can someone tell me, when I pay online at d.u. is there anything else I need to be putting in besides the account number from the back of the card?
I see a security code on the back of the card where you rub it off but no place to put the code in their form (that I can see). I don't want to key in 100 of these things (exaggerated) and then find I did them all wrong.

That is not really the security code under the silver tape... It is the last 4 digits of the gift card. Remove the tape and type in the whole number on the back of the card.

I've been seeing the threads about using Disney gift cards to pay towards your cruise as well as using a Target card to buy discounted Disney gift cards.

Anyway, my question is: If you use Disney gift cards to make payments towards your cruise and then something happens where you have to cancel your cruise (before the PIF date), how do they refund your money? Thanks!

Any refunds are put back on the card so be sure to keep the cards!

thanks so much. I keyed 20 of them in and hope I did it right. I picked 'balance payment' because my cards are $50 each and it said interm payments had to be no less than $100. there was also a 'payment in full' box so I felt safe with the balance payment one.

its a bit of work but I saved $50 on the thousand and I could save $250 if I do the whole cruise on cards. worth it to me. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the quick answer :)

Wow, so if someone purchases a large quantity in gift cards, and for some reason needs to cancel it, there's no way to get cash back. :scratchin

I think I'll stick with just making monthly payments towards my cruise via my Visa Debit card as I have done in the past. :)

I've paid two cruises in a row, entirely with gift cards. I even took a gift card on board last time to pay for the re-booking of the next cruise. Tips, excursions, onboard expenses... My travel agent calls me the 'gift card lady'

Haven't paid full price for gas in several years now. :)

I've paid for 3 cruises, entirely with gift cards. I thought DU would only take up to 5 or 10 cards per day, but their policy may have changed. I had to cancel one of the cruises and they credited each card, which I had saved. They were able to give me a list, with the last 4 digits on each card, so I could match them up if I needed to. The DU agent was none too happy about it :confused3. Switched TA after that experience. :p

They limit 10 per day. I have had a great experience with them.

I need to know more about this! Target has discounted Disney cards? Where do I get them?

You need to get a Target Red card. With this card you get 5% off everything you buy and even get free shipping if you buy online.

There are two types of Red Cards. One is a credit card. The other is a debit card. If you opt for the debit card you need to take a voided check with you to the store. I love my Red Card and have saved a ton using it. I also paid my cruise off with GC that I bought from Target. I'm also going to pay off my WDW portion with GC and then purchase GC to cover all my spending money for vacation.

Target has discounted cards if you use a Target Red card or a discount coupon. If you just go in and buy cards, they are the regular price.

Sam's, Costco, and Bj's all have cards at a 4% discount.

Many grocery stores have tie-ins with gas stations where if you buy gift cards, you get a discount on gas. Discount percentage will vary and you get the most if you buy a lot of gas. Since I only buy 14 gallons at a time, it's not a great discount for me (and BJ's gas is cheaper).

My cruise is already paid in full, can I buy a bunch now and use them all over the ship and to pay my tab?

Yep, just take them to customer service and they will add them to your account.
