Another GAD Voucher Question....

My DD both did the GAD, so we have 2 vouchers to use. We are only going to be in California for 2 days and was planning to only go to DL for 1 day and just relax on the 2nd day. However, my plan was to have my DD use her voucher for a ticket, and I would use mine for the FP, but now I hear you can only get FP if you have multi-day passes? Is this correct?

We are going in July, so for me it would be more valuable to redeem for the FP due to the crowd level. Can I ask the experts what would you do? I mean, yeah we could go to the parks for 2 days in order to use the FP option, but was hoping not to. WWYD? If it matters, there will be 3 of us on the trip. Me, DH and DD. Thanks for any advice!

The FAQs on the DLR website state that you only get to choose from one of the other options if you are an AP holder or multi-day ticket holder:

•If you are an Annual Passholder or a multi-day ticket holder, you may choose from one of 3 options instead of receiving the free 1-day, 1-park ticket.

I would use them to upgrade to a 2 day pass...but that's because I can't do only one day! Plus we love California Adventure too, don't know if you are only doing one day because you have been there a lot - if not I highly suggest two days, then you can go a little slower too and take breaks to relax during both days.

I dont get it, you are your dd are going to disneyland one day, you both have a voucher, use your voucher for your ticket and her voucher for her ticket, good for one day. Am I missing something?

Sort of. You can get an alternate gift (one of which is the FP option) if you already have valid admission. This could be a multi-day pass, an AP, or a 1 day pass.

My question is: If your daughter is using her voucher for a ticket, how are you getting into the Park?

Again, I don't understand your plan. There are 3 of you and you have 2 vouchers. Let's say your daughter uses hers for a Park ticket. How are you and your DH getting into the Park?

Ehh, it would be nice to have in July, but I'm not sure it would be worth $72 in my opinion, unless maybe you were going ON the 4th of July or something.

Having just come back from our trip with using these special FastPasses, I must say ... THEY TOTALLY ROCK!!! How very cool to be able to skip the "come back between this time and this time" and just head straight onto the rides! The nine of us shared tickets issued for six of us (can't remember if there was 7 tickets per person or six). It was amazing. DL should sell these every now and then, bu tthen too many people would buy them, and it would lose it's effectiveness, LOL!

My dad has always been the kind we have to DRAG to Disneyland. He has a zero tolerance level for lines. zero. He said this was his all time favorite trip to Disneyland! And you should have seen him! He ran like a child to the line for Maliboomer. MY DAD rode Maliboomer! And then CA Screamin! He rode Space Mountain for the first time EVER ... saying that he never rode it before because the line was always too long, and that it is now his favorite ride at DL. Why he didn't just use the parkhopper FastPass option on a prior trip is beyond me, but hey, he was smiling and we were happy!

It was my niece's first trip to DL (they are 18 and 16), and these passes made a huge difference for them. I wish we could duplicate this experience. For us, it was worth the $$ to use our son's ticket for the Fastpasses. Especially with how crowded the parks were due to Spring Break. The day we had Fastpasses, we rode sixteen separate rides.

and they STILL haven't explained how this would work if you have a AP and want to use the voucher on an AP block out day. We have 2 vouchers and DAP. The Saturday we are there is blocked. We can pay a blackout upgrade fee of, I think, 45.00 each. But could we use the voucher for the free day then just pay for upgrade to PH..which is what? OR..just get FP for entire party on Saturday..but..since AP is NOT valid on that day would they do that? Kind of confusing and really no one to ask.
