Hey guys,

We are going to WDW the second week of August and I have a big decision to make. We already have a package booked with DU to stay at AKL with dining. Well, we now have another child going (age 14) that will make our party 5 (2 adults - 3 kids ages 15-11) instead of 4. I am looking at 2 options 1 is 2 rooms at PC and still do the package with dining or 1 room at the Contemporary (wing) with the package & dining. The difference in the two packages is only $300 more at the Contemporary that PC. To stay at AKL is about $900 more than the PC package. We really want the dining as the boys tend to eat alot and so does my DH and I think we would come out better.

My only drawback at PC is the opportunity for the boys (ages 15 & 14) to escape during the night as I know my DH will not want us to stay in separate rooms (to keep an eye on the boys). They are at that age where they think they can do what they want, when they want to. So I am leaning towards the Contemporary. What do you guys think? We stayed at the Contemporary about 10 years ago and like it, but there were only 4 of us.

Help me decide!!! :confused3

I would book 2 rooms, and penalize the boys if they are stupid enough to sneak out. There is no way I could stand being in the same room as that many kids! (I have 3 small boys and we always book 2 rooms. Ask for connecting, NTS. There is a solid chance that they will be, I have found.

I'd go with the Contemporary. I think there's more to do there and you can keep a close eye on them. Also it's really convenient with the monorail, or you can even walk to MK.

You might search travel product websites for one of those door alarms. They are designed to go off if somebody enters your room, but would also sound if somebody left in the middle of the night. If you have adjoining rooms, you could just leave the door in between ajar enough to hear the alarm. Just having it there would probably be a deterrent.

Or you could do as we do when we stay in a room without a childproof latch. Move a piece of furniture in front of the second door. It would be hard for the kids to move it out of the way without waking you.

As a last resort, you could split the adults between the two rooms.

I'd get two rooms at PC--two bathrooms, two TVs, 4 beds. More space=less craziness IMO. I have never had a problem with my kids sneaking out at night, mainly because they know the consequences would be severe.
