I shipped a package (Disney sheets) to a nice woman in Maryland (from Dallas, TX) on August 13 via parcel post. She still has not received the package. I purchased the postage via the automated machines in my local post office, and I purchased insurance. Do you believe we've allowed enough time to pass for parcel post? Also, who files the claim, me or the purchaser?

Lesson learned----no more parcel post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your question is interesting. As a ebay powerseller I generally tell people to be patient, however, I never send ANYTHING parcel post. Parcel Post can take up to 80 days if things are really bad. Make sure you contact the seller before doing anything to see where they are located. Parcel post can go on boats, trains and trucks. They never go on airplanes. So there is a possibility that your package is stuck in the Gulf Coast. It if was routed through New Orleans or anywhere in that area, it could very possibly have a REALLY long delay. After Katrina, some of my southern buyers were waiting for two weeks for Priority packages to get to them. I always ship within 48 hours and this was really long. Please make sure that you give the seller time to reply and time to track the package. If the seller does not reply, contact PayPal and file a case. The seller will have to provide tracking and then you will know where your package is. Hope this helps! And good luck!

I once had something take over 3 weeks to get to TX from OH. Then another item (also to TX) took almost that. We stopped shipping parcel post as well, it's just too undependable when it goes that far. We thought it was something with TX since both items went there, like stricter security? You can get a form to fill out at the P.O. and it will take quite a while for this to go through, they may make you wait longer than it has been too.

I never had anything take longer than 5-6 days for parcel post, until last week. Everything was taking 10-14 days! I believe to file a claim you must wait 30 days. Either person can start the paperwork, but you will both need to sign it. send in a copy of the auction and payment, with the claim. Also you have to let them know who gets the check.

I've won a few auctions on ebay in the past month or so and they've been taking alot longer than usual to ship to me, even priority, so I would ask the buyer to be patient and wait a little while longer. My MIL in NC said she didn't even get her mail for a couple of days because the post office didn't have gas for their trucks so there may be problems even if it wasn't routed through the Gulf coast.

Thanks for the feedback. It's been more than 30 days, and the item was shipped two weeks before the hurricane. I guess I'll call the post office today and find out what they think we should do.

Also make sure the purchaser checks with her post office. If it was insured for more than $50.00 it would have to be signed for. If she was not home, or if the weather was not good, they would have left her a notice. I can't tell you how may times the package is waiting for them at the post office because the notice fell out of the mail when they retrieved it, it ended up stuck in a magazine, or was misplaced by a child getting the mail and never seen by the adults in the house. Just make sure she checks before one of you file a claim.

I have had horrible luck with the postal service lately! I ordered something from a woman in California. She shipped it on August 13, PRIORITY. I needed it for a wedding on Sept. 3. She ended up having to overnight me another item because I didn't get the package. The original ended up arriving ON the third, but I was already out of town for the wedding. That's ridiculous for a priority package that was small and lightweight.

Then I had an order from LLBean ship on August 31, something that had been on back order. It arrived yesterday, Sept. 15. It shipped from Maine, and I live in Maryland. I'm beginning to not trust sending anything by USPS anymore, and if given a choice will choose UPS or FedEx. I won't even get into talking about my mail lady, who continually leaves peoples mailboxes open, even in rain storms. I had ordered a pack of scrapbook paper from E-bay last spring and it was ruined when she left my mailbox open in a storm. I reported it, but all that happened was my mail lady leaving me a note telling me I SHOULD GET A NEW MAILBOX!!! It isn't even 2 years old, as we bought it new when we moved into this house! :headache:

I am so sad myself. I spent over three days comparing prices on a portable DVD player for DS adn DD for our upcoming trip to WDW. I finally decided to bid on two of the Disney players, a PowerRangers for DS and a princess one for DD...I finally won the two for about $150 (which included shipping) from the same seller. Insurance was not offered. I thought that was a great price since one will retail for around $130. Well, that was almost a month ago and so players in the mail yet. Other items I bought on e-bay since then have arrived but not the players. Before I bid I checked and the seller had a good rating. I e-mailed him last week asking when it shipped and when would it arrive. No response. Then, I check his feedback today and there are about 10 negative comments saying he scammed other buyers :earseek: . I really dislike having to leave negative feedback or to try to get back my $, I really want to believe this person is honest and there is a mistake with the shipment....but he never replied back to me. Unfortunately, I felt my next step was to contact Paypal. This is the first time I had a problem with a seller...I am just so sad because I really wanted the players for my kids and I dislike having to try and get my $ back, but at the same time I don't want to be out $150. Does anyone have advice on how the Paypal system works in this case? How long would I wait? Another person left feedback that they got all their money except $25 back. Thanks.

Put a dispute in with paypal, telling them what you said above. The seller will have to answer paypal, and prove that he mailed it. if he dosent, you will recieve your money back!
