I have chimed in on this on occasion seening that my 3.5 year old has taken this pin trading with cast member thing so seriously, Maybe I enjoy it more seeing her eyes light up when she saw a pin she wanted on a CM laynard made me feel special as well. We were given pins by cast members, While in ride lines I would leave her lanyard at the stroller, and we would on most cases see a pin she wanted to trade for and they would just give it to her in most cases
most interesting to me on this trip was I told by not 1, not 2 but three cast members that next time we come to Disney just buy a great big lot or pins from Ebay. No warning about fakes. I was shocked to hear that, I discussed this with one of them and he told me that he enjoys trading with the children, and he was certain that the children are not concerned with the fakes or real pins. I asked about the adults collecting and he told me it's up to them to know the difference between fakes and real pins, he also told me that he has never turned down a trade, regardless of the pin, and at the end of the night he weeds out the pins to assure that the lower quality pins are left off the lanyard for the next day. He told me that the frequency of getting low quality pins on his laynard is quite low and in most instances he could not tell the differnece from a scrapper or an authentic Disney pin.....interesting. We had a great time, my daughter kept running out of pins she was willing to trade, I had to keep buying the boxed pin sets of 7 for 29.00 to keep her in the trading game.
