Another DVC Ticket Question

If they don't expire* and ticket prices only go up, does it make sense to buy the tickets not knowing when we are going to use them?

We used to get APs, but too pricey now so we are going back to the military tickets for 2016. Those expire every year and there is no guarantee for the next year or years beyond that. (Side note: the price of military tickets has consistently creeped up over the years too.) So I'm thinking if I buy the DVC 5 day tickets for my family, I can still use them in 2-10 years when the military tickets are gone. Right? What have I not thought of here? Is there a better deal somewhere to hedge against ticket price increases?

Only other concern is that kids might not be kids by the time we use.

*Yes, I know they expire 14 days after first use, but let's assume first use is years away.

I'm thinking the same thing. I have plenty of tickets already, but it seems like a good hedge to buy these discounted tickets now.

The only downside is that these tickets won't be "bridged" if you decide to add days or features in the future. So, you need to buy the exact ticket that you'll need in the future. That's the downside. I'm not sure I know how many days I'll need in 10 years when I get around to using them.

I did this, but I only bought two tickets because I already had bought other tickets from UT a few years ago. It seemed like every year I heard there was going to be a price increase so I decided to buy tickets ahead of time. Well, I got a little carried away since we ended up skipping one year at WDW and then buying AP's for a few years. I didnt want to have tooooo big of a stockpile of tickets so I only bought two of these. I am also now a bit better informed about bridging tickets than I was in the past, so I bought 7 day tickets instead of 5.

Yikes I am just reading this message (thankfully). So if I buy the DVC 5-day hoppers but get down there and decide to add a day I CANNOT do that at all? Would I have to purchase a one-day ticket for an extra day or would I just pay a different increase for the extra day (increase in cost from a standard 5-day to a standard 6-day instead of increase in cost from DVC 5-day to DVC 6-day)?

Just want to make sure I know the rules before I buy today!

NEVERMIND! More "research" here and I found my answer. Basically sounds like the increase to add a day would be the cost I paid for the 5-day hopper PLUS the cost of a standard 5-day hopper. Now to decide how many days I REALLY need! Sounds like I might just be better off buying discount tickets at work (which would cost me $3 less per ticket than the current DVC 5-day hoppers but would NOT include the PLUS options) so that I can add days down there if necessary. The only 'extra' we thought we might use would be the mini-golf but even then the using it before 4pm might be a challenge anyway! I assume with those (since I'm purchasing them somewhere other than Disney) I can still easily bridge them when there!

per supervisor, the 25th anniv. tickets cannot be bridged, add extra day, etc. Only upgraded to annual passes.

Agree on the "bridging" issue. You should be able to add/upgrade/exchange any way you want, but you won't benefit from the discount.

Can someone tell me why it is better to bridge with a seven day rather than a five day pass?

7 day usually has a bigger discount vs Disney's MSRP.
Otherwise the functionality doesn't matter

(Note you need valid tickets in your MDE account to make FP+ reservations, you wouldn't want to plan a 7 park day trip with only 5 day tickets.)

In my case, I bought 7 day for the DVC discount tickets because I know that I can NOT bridge them. Therefore, I wanted more days on my tickets to begin with. My plan is to use tickets that I bought from UT when I want to bridge and keep the DVC discount tickets for a trip that I will not be wanting to upgrade on.
