Non-pushy guides/salesmen!

Oh my did I have the experience tonight! My DH went to the Deutcshe (sp?) Bank Golf tournament in MA a week or two ago and entered some "contest" for free airline tickets. Well lo and behold we won them.....if we attend a timeshare sales pitch here on cape cod.

My Dh was all excited poor guy, thinking he really won something. Anyway, this guy, Derek, will not leave us alone! He has called me 3 times tonight and called my Dh on his cell. And he lied to my DH and said that I told him to call him on his cell! Finally after he called me at 10 till 9pm I told him where to go. I hope he stops calling. He is so pushy! I have never had to deal with anyone quite like this before.

Wow, did this make me appreciate my DVC and my non-pushy guide!

I can only imagine what it is like when they actually get you to the presentation

Thanks for letting me vent.

Three times in one evening......plus your husband's cell phone...I would also tell him where to go. If he keeps calling I would tell him I was going to report him and his company to my State Attorney General's Office for harassing sales tactics. Bet he stops then!!!!

after telling derek no for the first time, if he called me again i would advise him that if there was a third call i would be doing something that would cause him to leave the industry...the third call would have been to schedule a date with no intention of showing up or showing up, listening to the pitch and remaining zombie-like throughout the presentation - with my only response being 'no thank you'.

another alternative is my response to telemarketers - ask them to hold on for a minute and then press the 'flash' button on the phone and walk away.

i was on the telemarketer's don't call list before the gov't started one! :rotfl:

There is no such thing as a "free" lunch. Except, of course, at Disney (DDP).
When we were sent something in the mail (not notified by phone) "I was trying to keep the lid on the pressure cooker" telling everyone in the household not to get excited, because I have taken "ONE" of those timeshare trip offers, never again :sad2: never again. How many ways can you say NO to make them understand??? I kept repeating NOTHING is free. Anyway that is when I found out that DISNEY is not like that, and we HAD actually won a trip :cool1: We had a wonderful trip :thumbsup2 and it was totally legit/ free!!! Thanks DISNEY and the DOWNTOWN DISNEY HOTELS!!!

Ugh, they can be so dang pushy! I am not sure how we got called for one, but they drove me up the wall! They left a message and then I looked up the name of the company. They called back several times and finally on the third time of telling them I wasn't interested, I bluntly said that I was not interested in a time share and if they called back one more time I would report them.

DVC is so much different than them... and that I am thankful for!

Pushy hardly begins to describe what they are. And the ones that I have been to before, usually calls in the "reinforcements" if they can't get you to say yes. One company called three different people over to "talk" to me. It was awful!

The most worst thing you can do to these guys, is take the free trip, sign up as soon as possible so they leave you alone, then cancel the contract the next day after you leave (assuming the state you buy in has a cooling off period).

You want to talk about pushy. We took a timeshare tour in Myrtle Beach a couple of years past. We told the woman many times that it wasn't for us. Finally after badgering us repeatedly and realizing that we were not going to budge, she actually called my wife "Stupid!". Bad move for her, my wife was ballistic! My wife lashed into her like a pitbull. Needless to say we were shown the door quickly by the managers after that.

I think the ones in the Orlando area are the worst. "No" is not part of their vocabulary. As someone who owned (notice the past tense) a conventional time share for many years, I wish I had looked into DVC so much sooner. So many more amenities - and no pushy salesmen at all...even when you are in the office making a final decision on a purchase they give you plenty of breathing room. Although, I have to say, on our last stay I saw a DVC kiosk in every theme park - they are getting their message out more, but not pushing or even really approaching people as they pass.
